England have a poor record against Brazil and last night was a chance to beat one of the worst Brazil teams I've seen. Their celebrations at the end shows how much it meant to the Brazil players and the coaching staff. I don't think they expected to win. England are destined to fail again this summer. Southgate doesn't have the nous to win a tournament. England will need a foreign coach in order to move forward and finally win some silverware. Their understanding of the game is so superior.

Venky’s, HMRC…The Plot Thickens ?

A non-statement full of weasal words and little more than a tribute to how wonderful the owners are. It's actually an insult to the intelligence of Rovers fans - at least those who can see through the continuing bullshit coming from the management at Ewood Park. I agree that the "should" word is the most relevant. If the statement had said "we are confident that" there might be cause for optimism but as it stands it provides little reassurance that these problems might be over -
v Ipswich Town (h) - Good Friday, 29/3/24, 17:30

Rovers showed what they are capable of against Newcastle and the players have to play every game to the end of the season with the same level of commitment and intensity. Ipswich aren’t a wonder side and they can be ruffled and got at if every Rovers player can reproduce the fight and battling qualities of the FA cup tie. They’ve shown they can do it - do they want it enough to do it again? -

I really don’t think it’s unfair at all. He’s a calamity in waiting and his gaffes are one of the reasons we’re in dire trouble. This isn’t a ringing endorsement of Pears just that he’s the better of the two -

4-man defence. Which makes a welcome change and Tronstad back to bolster the midfield . About as good as could be expected I suppose -

Have searched around but can't find any references to Waggott having a former life as a journalist Did find this though - the "Saviour of English football" https://www.express.co.uk/expressyourself/34577/Is-this-man-the-real-saviour-of-English-football -

From what I remember Rovers have a good record generally against the north-east teams, particularly away from home (no doubt some statto will correct me) so hopefully this will be the case against Boro. Another point wouldn't be bad and probably the best we can hope for until the likes of Tronstad and Rankin-Costello come back. Eustace will also have had a full week to work with the players so he has no excuses this time on getting his ideas across and putting his playing philosophy into practice. I'm on a good run with predictions having got 4 in a row spot on so I'll go for a 1-1 draw -
Sam Szmodics-Your thoughts?
jim mk2 replied to BRFC4EVA's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Szmdics is a late developer and has got better with age but he's now at a stage when his age will be a problem for top clubs and they will not be willing to part with decent (from our point of view) money. I can't see him leaving for more than £5 million and even that might be wishful thinking -
To be fair to old Tony, we did have some top loanees in his time. Elliott, Tosin and Harwood-Bellis were top class players. Branthwaite didn't shine but is now highly regarded as a future England player It has to be said the current lot are a poor bunch.

We signed another crock around that time - Martin Britt from West Ham for £25,000 a lot of money then. His cruciate had gone IIRC -
Absolutely marvellous But far too long for the Netflix generation Can you do a T20 version?

Pretty good effort for such a long journey. In the good old days they'd have come by special train, with windows on the way up but no windows on the way back -
Bazball works for flat track bullies but gets found out against the better teams and players who stick to the time-honoured Test match virtues of crease occupation and solid defence. But for one extraordinary innings from Pope this would have been a 5-0 whitewash. Reading the papers it seems Stokes is leading this attack at all costs mantra as much as McCullum. With an away Ashes series on the horizon it's time for a rethink because it won't work down there either.

Why do folk think that relegation might lead to some sort of awakening in India - that it might lead to them acting on some way, or even selling the club? There's no guarantee that relegation - and another relegation to L2 - might be a catalyst for anything. In all likelihood, they will carry on running the same way, with minimal interest, minimum funding and certainly no engagement with supporters. BRFC has been placed in the Venky's bottom drawer - to be looked at perhaps once a year and the returned into the same dusty file for another 12 months or so. They don't care, because their arrogance does not allow them to admit they have made a huge mistake in buying the club in the first place.
-
McCullum and Stokes need to rethink strategy - the gung-ho Bazball approach has been exposed.

Must win = must not lose for me. A point from every game and we will probably survive In view of our difficulties scoring and conceding soft goals I'd take another 1-1 -

Most relevant sentence from that article "The CEO, who has also come under fire from supporters, also revealed the club have no longstanding or overdue debts. In fact, the club are hopeful of ending the year in profit, based on current forecasts" So, in other words, the prospect of relegation and fans sick with worry don't matter - Waggott will be trousering his bonus on top of his £300,000 plus salary.
