  1. Have to say the course is superb. Loads of variety of types of holes, greens, lakes etc. You get proper punishment for missing a fairway. Makes such a change from the beautiful wide fairways of the US.

I think the lead is too big for the US to overcome, but the last day of the Ryder Cup has seen bigger shocks in the past.

One of my favourite sporting events begins tomorrow; the Ryder Cup. This year it's in Paris.

The USA team looks to be stronger than the European one this time out but it will be close.

Form often goes out of the window in the Ryder Cup, it's often pressure and momentum that decides the outcome. Great competition though, would be great to see more of this kind of team format in the game.

More classic Allott and Lancashire. Talk. He seemed to suggest he has no say in the managers future so quite what he actually does as director of cricket remains a mystery.

Annoyingly he seems aware of issues but almost denies anything can be done. Also we will look to youth is just code for no signings.

“Hameed got more opportunities than he deserved.” No shit.

They both started to make division 2 sound like a promotion by the end. Just as I shall remember hodgkiss’ words, I shall also remember Allott’s words: “We’ll only be in div 2 for 1 season”. Let’s see Paul.

The Hameed thing is very poor from Allott, it's not the lads fault if he's struggling and shouldn't be there, it's the management for having no alternative. He shouldn't be naming and shaming him - it's hardly like he's outshine by many of his fellow batsmen.

  4. Collingwood a decent shout, always sensible, worked very hard as a younger pro to maximise his talents. Durham still struggling financially, not too far from home.

Fowler a long time out of the game, does he have the desire?

David Lloyd, I'd have him as a president, he's too immersed in the tv world to spend quality time at the club.

Would you like to see Allott and Chapple remove from their positions and who would you like to see in? I would like to see Andy Flower or Greame Flower there but looking at things I dont a change in structure. I think Allott and Chapple will stay. Do I think we see a big changes in personal? I hope so. Glesson signing is a good one. But we need more

I think it needs a clean sweep to be honest.

Couldn't give you a name, but the club has huge potential, and that must be a pull for any young and aspiring coaches. Needs someone with real desire to succeed and who can't accept getting beaten easily - bit of a grizzly Aussie attitude. What's Ricky Ponting up to these days?

Surely Jennings has had it at England level now (for a while at least - remembering he's only 21).

Bowled not playing a shot, surely he's been completely found out at test level - and even the changes he's made (obviously he's put a lot of work in during the break between tests) haven't worked as the Indians have just done a complete all-round number on him.

    Back in the Lancs team?

He looks like a proper classy batsman, but often gives his wicket away completely out of the blue. Have to wonder that it isn't concentration.

  7. We'll it looks like 2 of 3 teams below us now will lose, with only Essex likely to win.

Could go to the Roses game deciding who gets relegated. Can't quite believe that of York's, they have some quality county players.

A rip off indeed. If you’re a member of any of the 4 clubs and bought them through the respective counties then it’s £76. For the event junkies happy to buy tickets before even know who’s playing and therefore unlikely to support any team it’s £46.

Maybe I’m getting old and grumpy. But increasingly finals day is for groups, probably their first game of the season, with only a vague knowledge of the sport, but who are all dressed as Smurfs or umpa lumpas for no reason. They are up and down, up and down, up and down without the faintest knowledge or interest of who’s playing or what’s going on. Only content once sweet Caroline has been sung.

Meanwhile real fans who are only interested in supporting their team and have done throughout the season are locked out. Or jumping through hoops to get in.

As a side note what’s this grip Edgbaston seems to have over finals day. Since 2007 only been to the bloody Rose bowl and Sophia gardens. In the early days Trent Bridge, the Oval both had a do. Never OT or Headingley.

So if you buy in advance it's £46, but £76 If your team is playing and only a few hundred tickets available per qualifying county?

You really couldn't make a scheme so ticket-tout friendly. Buy 10 tickets at £460, wait until week before finals day, sell at £5 under price £710, £250 straight profit and nobody feels ripped off.

  9. With Rodwell, if you think he may be worth it, give him a deal until new year, with option to extend to June if we want. Personally I dont, but on that basis its at least low-risk.

Anichebe used to play up front with Sone Aluko for Nigeria, perhaps he was just visiting a mate?

Heard about Brereton about 2 years ago. Liverpool were linked with him for around 15 million pounds not long ago

    Linked means nothing though.

It was a story the day after he played very well vs Arsenal, playing vs Mertersacker (one of the slowest players around).

    It wasn't mentioned again.

I'm not knocking the kid, but there's no evidence that Liverpool really where interested.

Personally for 6m I think we could look at more proven options.
