  1. Hi all I am doing the sleep out for Blackburn rovers community trust. This year the trust is working in partnership with blackburn food bank with funds going to the homeless and underprivileged families in the blackburn area I'm a 41 year old man, dad to 3 children husband and own my own decorating company in the leyland area but always feel THOSE WHO HAVE SHOULD HELP THOSE WHO HAVEN'T...... I would really appreciate if you could give something towards the charity... even the price of a pint or a pie can help. Thank you for reading and please let's make a difference together https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/geedog13?utm_campaign=pfp-tweet&utm_content=Geedog13&utm_medium=fundraisingpage&utm_source=Twitter&utm_term=p2jgpvDMw
  2. Just seen this on our site .... There are apparently NINE Post-War International footballers, who've played League Football over three different decades, who've donned both the Blue and White of Blackburn Rovers, and the Claret & Blue of Burnley F.C. at some point in their long careers ! Any suggestions ?
  3. ISSUE 100! It's only taken us 30 years to get there! We've put together a memorable 48-page special edition which celebrates this significant milestone and it's still just £1.50. To order your copy please visit our ONLINE SHOP, or to purchase through eBay CLICK HERE. Season subscriptions are also STILL AVAILABLE HERE for just £9.00 (includes P&P) which gets you all five issues from 97 to 101. If you prefer grabbing a copy in person, the fanzine will be sold outside Ewood before the forthcoming home games from an hour before kick-off (at the bottom of Kidder Street). Issue 100 includes: Interviews with the creators, All 100 front covers printed and catalogued, LOTS of memories (e.g. 'Flying Over You', 'The Thatchcard' & how we once duped Blackburn Council!), 'I'll Always Be A Rover' (an incredible take on a Billy Joel classic), Colin's Cheeky Bits!, Confessions of a Teenage Mascot, I Support Rovers Because..., From The Terraces, 'Who Were You?' #15 Richard Witschge, 101 Great Rovers Goals #7, Voice From The Valleys, Rovers' Own West Lothian Question, Fantastic Fergie, Just Look At Them Now!, Rovers-themed Crossword…. plus much much more! Thank you and here's to the next 100... maybe!
  4. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12040/11944257/premier-league-to-launch-hall-of-fame Shearer surely in the mix for one of the first 2 places. Him and Fergie.
  5. I've wanted to post this for a while, but I was waiting for an upturn in form, so it didn't get lost in all the (probably justified) manager and team bashing that go along with bad performances and results. So before a possible Brentbashing this Saturday (eeek): Referring to past comments about the direction Rovers are supposedly heading in. What exactly does a Slow Build mean? Has this ever been explained? Does it refer to building Rovers Financially or Team Progression on the Pitch. As those 2 things are contradictory - as 'making money' would imply selling your best players for a profit which would of course weaken the team. If it's about long term team progression, then how exactly does signing loan players that see their future elsewhere (and ones we blatantly cannot afford anyway) fit into this? ?‍♂️
  6. For my 40th birthday present my poor fiancée has agreed to “treat” me to a stay in Manchester and tickets for the home game against Swansea. Can any of the good people of this forum advise me on how much matchday tickets will cost and when they will become available on the website? Where’s the best place to sit in Ewood for a good experience? No sarcastic comments please ? There’s not much information on the official site. We’re planning to stay in Manchester the night before the match and get the train to Blackburn on Saturday. Any advice on what time to get the train so we can get some pints in before the match? And which pubs would have a good atmosphere? All advice gratefully accepted and all being well the attendance figures will get a mighty boost of two from Northern Ireland ?

  8. Now this might be incredibly stupid question, but well here goes trying! I've been a Rovers fan, probably ~15years now. I was a huge fan of Tugay when he was playing for Blackburn. He was such a natural midfield maestro with great technique.. and great shooting. Anyway, I remember back in the 'early days of youtube', watching one goal highlight by Tugay, whichs' commentary is just stuck in my head. It was a "regular" Tugay type Goal of the Season contender. Thunderbolt from 30 yards out etc.. There are currently some videos in Youtube of Tugay goals for Blackburn but I cant find that particular one! I remember there was a second commentary guy with (for a foreigner like me) ridiculously wide scottish dialect, I THINK it was Andy Gray as he was going on about "absolutely gloorius strike by Tugay.. he gets his foot around it and just unnleashes. Take a bow son, brrrilliant". Would there be anyone crazy enough around here to have watched this and would remember this goal and? Who could place this description to a goal, video, or perhaps even have this one recorded and could upload it to Youtube ?.
  9. What team would everyone play on Tuesday night? Walton Nyambe Lenihan Adarabioyo Bell Chapman Travis Davenport Downing Graham Armstrong Not ideal having Downing wide but in the absence of any competent wingers at least one of him and Armstrong will have to play there. Very much a pragmatic 442, not Armstrong as a number 10. Johnson and Rankin Costello should be taken out. No more strikers out wide bollocks. No Samuel near the 18.
  10. Good morning everyone, I hope this is okay to post here – if not, moderators please move or delete as appropriate. I’m part of a team at the University of Sheffield, led by Dr Chris Stride. We've published a number of academic papers and magazine articles relating to football history, on subjects such as statues and replica shirts (see, for example sportingstatues.com, and https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17460263.2019.1578255). Our current project is investigating the music that football teams have run or walked out of the tunnel to over the years. We are looking for the music that Blackburn Rovers have run out to, for as many seasons in the past as you can recall. We are simply interested in the title of the song, the artist who recorded it, and for which seasons Rovers ran out to this. Any help you can give us to piece together the different songs that your club has run out to would be hugely appreciated. If you have any personal anecdotes around the reasons for the songs being used, or the changes between them, that would also be fantastic. I should also add that we are not interested in goal music, or a song that is played at the final whistle, but just the song that is on the tannoy system as the players enter the field. If you think someone else may be able to help, or you have any questions, please let us know! We would be very happy to discuss the project. Thanks for your time guys, Joe Headland
  11. I have a spare ticket for the Charlton away fixture, message me if you want it. Free of charge, pick up before game in pub. Alex, DM me - 07506 667302
  12. Rovers giving Man City a 4-1 showing at Ewood November 1950 Div 2 Lovely footage of a near 40,000 crowd
  13. Apparently there has been a lot of talk about this at the fans forum tonight. I wasn’t at the meeting, but apparently the big news was this: We are right on the cusp of breaching FFP rules The plan was to sell Dack this window to remain compliant Since his injury they have looked into a sale and lease/buy back of Ewood. They decided against this due to the ACV on the ground. Other avenues are being explored. So I wouldn’t expect any signings this window.
  14. I don't know if any of you use it, but I do. It's slowly becoming, over the last two seasons, the bane of my life. It ruins the last five minutes of games for me because I know it's coming. It's the most poorly designed, accident-waiting-to-happen parking space ever created. The mad rush as the gates open, the near misses, little bumps, beeping and chaos that ensues after every game. It's an absolute nightmare. There's such a simple fix to it, a one way system, block off the ends of some rows etc... Have people directing traffic in there. It takes me, sometimes, over 30 minutes to leave the stadium because of the delays in opening the gates, then trying to squeeze through a tiny exit along with 500 other people too. I've had two bumps in that car park, and the club is either blissfully unaware of the situation, or simply refuses to do anything about it. My question(s): Is this an issue that's always existed, and I've just been naive to it having only started parking there recently? Or am I on my own and I just have to deal with it every game?
  15. Does anyone ever bother to read them or am I a bit sad? Thought it would be worth starting a thread to share them, not to go on and be clowns winding them up but just to read their opinions both on us and their own teams. So I was browsing a Wednesday one earlier, understandably in meltdown. Some stark comparisons to here though some of the comments particularly regarding Monk. https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/forum/3-sheffield-wednesday-matchday/ Worth a read if you get a few mins.
  16. This is a game that really doesn't capture the imagination whatsoever. I would be more than happy for TM to try out the fringe players in this match. Obviously I would be happy if we won but wouldn't be too disappointed to lose.
  17. Does anyone know the date for the next Supporters Consultation Meeting ? Last year it was 22 Nov so normally it should be announced now, seeking attendees and agenda. Josh , who is attending from BRFCS ? Can we start a process of getting serious questions from members ? e.g. PM to you or whatever. Finance and Governance of OUR club.... not listening to Mowbray talk about being a lad kicking a lump of coal about.
  18. Despite differences of opinion, we're all ultimately united by a common love. Wishing all fellow Roverites a happy and prosperous 2020. We Are The Rovers!!!
  19. Hi i have a spare Preston ticket for Blacburn end Block 4 Row 11 seat 128 (£10), and if anyone is strugling to get to Forest on Wednesday i am driving down with spare seats ..
  20. Don't phone it's just for fun. So imagine you're working for Rovers PR Machine (lolz). The half season tickets are on sale. What's your Marketing Slogan? I want one based on Fantasy and then one based on current Reality. Shoot! ....
  21. Just to echo what we’ve said on Twitter...massive thanks to everyone who has contributed to the site in whatever capacity; IT, mod, podcast panelist, podcast guest, thread contributions, articles, or just having a good old read or listen to the stuff we put out there...we appreciate it and when we get positive feedback to something we have tried or created it really makes our day. #wedoitforlove ? Merry Christmas everybody...?? ?
