Alan75 Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Rovers are understood to have made an official inquiries for Everton, striker James Beattie. Rovers old boy, Beattie would give Rovers a different option up front, and some back up during a long season, when injuries take their toll, as they battle in Europe plus domestic league and cups. Whilst Rovers have a plethora of strikers, including Benni MacCarthy, Matt Derbyshire, Paul Gallagher, Francis Jeffers and Dutch hotshot, Maceo Rigters, their only target man is Jason Roberts. With Rovers not proceeding with the Chris Nonda deal, their striker options could be weakened further with the departure of Francis Jeffers, to Cardiff and the deal to take him to Ipswich could still yet be resurrected. In an exclusive in the People by Alan Nixon, suggests that Mark Hughes is prepared to pay up to £2.5 million for the former Rovers youth and reserve hotshot.
