Alan75 Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Dont Panic Editorial.. Fortunately unlike previous Rovers manager Graeme Souness, Mark Hughes does take Cup games seriously and although he has stated he intends to make changes, I suspect he will name as strong side possible for tonight’s Carling Cup game against Big Club, Birmingham. I suspect that the major change will be the inclusion of Matt Derbyshire and Jason Roberts up front in place of Santa Cruz and McCarthy, and possibly a start for Tugay, although Sunday’s midfield pairing of Dunn & Savage should be up for this game, being ex Big Club players. The Times are reporting that Mark Hughes, is refusing to press the panic button as he prepares for tonight’s Carling Cup with the “Big Club”. Quoting Hughes as saying. “We are not beating ourselves up and we know we have just to got get back on track,” “We were disappointed in Greece but if we had got an early goal against Portsmouth it would have been a different game. “We’ve got the quality players who can produce opportunities and we have proved that given the right opportunities we will convert them. We’ve had a couple of setbacks but we know we are still a good team. “There are certainly no great problems with the make-up of the team. Two results have gone against us but prior to that we had gone 15 games without defeat. It is unrealistic to expect us to be unbeaten in every game.” Defeat tonight, resulting in an early exit of the cup, would certainly have fans pressing the panic button.
