Newell who scored the vital penalty for Blackburn in the playoff final against Leicester at Wembley back in 1992, was recently released by Hartlepool after he lead them to promotion from the third division. Newell’s appointment as manager of Luton was based on votes cast by the players, season ticket holder, shareholder and board members.
