WestcountryRover
Hello, My name is Dick and I’m from a very small village in West Dorset. Have supported Rovers since 1961. Watched my first game in 1967 v Ipswich Town. Manage a couple of home games every taking in as many southern based away games as possible. Most memorable games include taking my (then) 9 year old daughter (Kate) to watch us beat Leicester City 5 -3; from that day onwards she became a Rovers fanatic. A couple of seasons later v Notts Forest ,the day of relegation, we sat in the JW stand, Kate crying her eyes out and sobbing ‘I wish I didn’t like football', I watched her been comforted by two Notts Forest fans sitting in the adjoining seats. Life much improved for Kate when we journeyed to Cardiff for the League Cup final. The highs and lows of supporting a football team! Lived in London from 68 – 73 and watched all the London games. Memories include a game at Crystal Palace (can’t remember the result) standing behind the goal and nearly colliding with Jim Fryatt. Remember those sideburns? BRFC is my passion but I am also a keen Exeter City fan. A club that was sadly taken over by a pair of individuals that promised the earth ( a joint chairmanship, both subsequently jailed for fraud ,who brought on Uri Geller, as vice chairman and Michael Jackson as an honorary director). Now a supporters Trust owned club and very well run .
