  1. QUOTE(Ciren Rover @ Apr 5 2006, 18:09 )

Who has scored for Blackburn, Spurs, Rangers, and Hearts?

    Eddie answered

Does this include own goals? Then it could be someone like Hendry.

That has been the only answer provided and it may very well be correct as I can't come up with anyone who has played for all those 4 clubs in his career.Any other board members ready to weigh in with an answer?

Forgive me for not reading through all the previous threads but is it not Steve Archibald?

  2. I work in Liverpool and a colleague of mine that regularly goes to the Blackburn away game is not going because of the timing.

He was unsure about whether it was Liverpool or Rovers that were to blame and suspected it was Rovers.

I told him that as far as I knew Liverpool requested the fixture be moved back to later in the day and Rovers complied.

Does anyone know if that is the case?

I truly believe that Rovers would agree to an alternative date if it was requested by Liverpool but I'd like to be sure of my facts before telling the whinging scouser to shut up.

  3. What a brilliant collection of articles - thanks!

The journalists of yesta-year must have been the inspiration for the way Stuart Hall commentates.

Today's rabble spend the majority of match reports discussing the latest scandal rather than concentrating on the game itself.

I read those articles and found myself lamenting a time when football was accessible by either walking through a turnstile or reading a match report.

This weekend it was back-to-back coverage with several repeats thrown in. With the amount of modern coverage it's no wonder the modern journalist has become lazy and lost the ability to report descriptively.

  4. This game is a watershed for our season.

If, as many people are predicting, we draw or lose it would appear that we've reverted to type and another season of struggle lies ahead.

However, if we win it will prove my theory that, under Hughes, Rovers are a different outfit with a real chance of acheiving something this season.

With the upcoming international break a win would leave us with a real confidence boost, a place in the top half of the table for the next few weeks.

My prediction.... 3 - 0 to the Rovers

  5. 'Twas a good game with plenty of good things to take heart from.

My only gripe is that the formation was not working early in the second half and it seemed to take too long for Hughsie to react.

Where was Bentley supposed to be playing ?

We had no presence down the right as Bentley drifted into the middle meaning the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half were spent entirely in front of the managers.

Dickov had a stinker and really struggled to make any kind of impact, he is too similar to Bellamy for them to play together.

The simple solution would have been to take Bentley and Dickov off, replacing them with Pederson and Kuqi.

We could have then switched Emerton to his natural right side and partnered Bellamy with someone he could feed off.

This would have given us much more balance and more food for thought prior to the visit to the Mancs on Sat.

I also noticed Friedel's hesitancy on a couple of occasions, could he be suffering from "being handed a new contract syndrome" ? Still, it was nice to see the tv pictures at half time of the new keeper playing in the reserves.

All in all, there were more good points than bad with a timely confidence boost prior to Saturday.

  6. This has all the hallmarks of a classic for many reasons....

    1. The return of the "SAS" - Chop Souey (a dish both sets of fans will be craving) & Big Al, ambling his way to retirement on his old stomping ground

    2. Michael "still not match fit but good enough to displace J. Cole for England?" Owen coming up against the Admiral in only his 2nd game for the barcodes

    3. Bellamy will be wound up like a petrol pump attendant, out to prove a point to Souness & Shearer

Having said that, I'm predicting a nil-nil scoreline with both teams reduced to 10 men.

  7. Apart from the Jansen incident at the end, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the game v Espanyol and I don't want to add to a negative post about attendances again.

I took two of my girls for their first game and they also enjoyed the occasion.

Sat near us in the JW upper was a certain Mr David Moyes from Everton.

Given that we don't play Everton for quite a while I'm thinking he must have been there on a scouting mission.

Any ideas on who he might have been looking at ?

I'd guess at either Friedel, Niell or Emerton.
