  1. Roberts isnt half the goal scorer Bellamy is, but hes a fa rbigger team player in terms of goal involvement. Our midfield scoredmore than its fair share last year, most of it via MGP. With Reid being able to link further up due to Roberts strength, I'm guessing it wont be a replacement for Bellers, but will go a decent way to replacing him.

  2. Actually, dont you think a big strong header of the ball like Mido would be better?

Or do you think someone with pace like Baros would complement him better?

I was thinking of Roberts as perhaps a player to attract attention the box, be a nuisance, and allow the midfield to get goals as well as contribute some of his own. Also, having someone like him who can hold up, pass and run is why I think a fast player would be better with him - give us multiple counter-attacking outlets. If we had Mido (and I certainly wouldnt say no, dont get me wrong), it could be effective, if a little predictable on the break. SO yes, I'd prefer a Baros-esque player, just not Baros himself.

  3. What we lose in Bellamy's pace I think RRoberts could make up for a bit in pace, but his muscle and height have got to be a plus when our only other option is Kuqi. I have great mental images of MGP crosses actually getting us somewhere this season. Now, just get a real speedster to play alongside him and I think our frontline will be in as equally healthy state as last term, only less reliant on one man.

  4. And you wouldn't give both nuts to have him at Ewood ? :wstu:

I wouldnt sacrifice either of my love jewels for any player, but yes I'd Rooney at Blackburn. But if someone had me up against the wall with a knife and said Blackburn can have Rooney or Torres but not both, I'd pick Torres. And even if Rooney played for Blackburn, I wouldnt have to like the over-hyped, lardy dip-s**t either.

  5. I've known soundcards throw up the BSOD with IRQL messages and memory problems. If they are old parts or bad drivers, certain memory access points and hardware commands basically conflict with Windows. No damagae is ever done, as far as I am aware, its just an annoyance. If Hainsey's tips dont work, I suggest checking all driver updates, and if you have the newest, downgrading your soundcard driver. If your soundcard has integrated gameports or 56k modems, it usually adds to the misery of it occuring regularly, even if you dont use them. Simply having a joystick plugged in caused the problem on my old PC, as it kept being recognised mid-way through other tasks and just causing havoc.

  6. Athlon 64, 300GB HDD, a hefty graphics card, and lots of space taken up by three drives - all in a midi-tower? It sounds decent value, so long as you are aware it could have some serious heat issues with future upgrades. Midi-towers are nice to look at, but theres a reason they arnt the standard... and there is no mention of the PSU if my scan-reading is right. Theres a lot of nice kit there - my random guestimate that to run that at full whack and be just reasonably okay for upgrades would be a 450-500 watt PSU. Which, unless things have changed since I last made a PC (about a year), are not cheap.

  7. It wouldnt suprise me if it were true - we all know that Jack and his families money wouldnt be pumped in forever. A part of me also thinks this is a good time to sell; with Abramovich and Gaydamak improving popularity of the EPL in Russia, and certainly raising English footballs already fairly lofty profile, interest in England is at some of its highest. Dont forget Villa were subject to about 3 different bids over the past couple of years, and rumours yesturday suggest that Sullivan is hoping to offload his share of Brum. A club sitting 5th with a combined total of many, many hundreds of international caps, with an already top quality set of facilities, could be a good proposition, even if the attendances arnt - the idea of new owners could coax back supporters with one signing alone, and I'm not talking Ronaldinho style signings.

However, a part of me thinks no-one wouldve said ANYTHING whatsoever to a reporter unless there was already one interested party (if its true, of course). I cant imagine all and sundry at the club would know if the trust wanted shot of Rovers, so if anyone could leak it, it sounds a little planned.

Still, I have the business and financial knowledge and logic that probably only applies to me, while all those who know what they are talking about are either screw-faced or laughing. But thats my 2 cents.

  8. If Totti stepped up and smacked the guy in the face, I would think he just let his temper get the better of him. I'd think he is an idiot, but not a pansying spitter, wuss. Its not the idea of losing his head for a split second, it was that his reaction was to spit, like a spoilt four year old, or Diouf. That and the fact he has a tendancy to immitate a sack of potatoes far too often, and all I see is a dishonest (on the pitch), but highly gifted football player. However, the WC doesnt need him, because there are plenty of people who are highly gifted who dont come with the baggage of being a hatable footballer. I'm not saying he deserves to have the injury - no-one does - I'm just saying I wont miss him. His loyalty to Roma is to be commended, and his charity work too. But at the world cup, its Totti the footballer who will/would be on display, not Totti for Roma, or Totti the charity man.

  9. That pic posted above looks nasty... I bet pulling his boot off was an enjoyable experience.

Hope he gets back to playing though - although if it is a year, lets hope it is after any Rovers fixtures wink.gif

I've never known anyone who has had an injury like that, but I did see a guy completely break his knee to bits when I played for my Primary School team... met up with him again at secondary school, and he could walk, jog on it, etc, but was permenantly excused from PE and the likes. Lets hope Smith isnt in the same situation - for better or for worse, he is at least a break from the norm in the EPL.

  10. After reading the message on rovers.co.uk, I wanted him to go riding off into the football sunset and have a good career elsewhere. Now, I hope he doesnt get a look in a Bolton. I know he is a Carlisle man, and outside of a Rovers contract he has no reason not to turn down Bolton, but really, Bolton? I suppose better to rot in their reserves than ours, but I CAN see him playing tomorrow, even if he never plays again. He's fit, and most certainly motivated. Perhaps it was mis-interpretation of reading between the lines, but he does seem to think he deserved a start for Rovers recently, and I'm sure he'd love to prove Sparky wrong.

  11. It would have made more sense to sponsor Birmingham rugby team or something. Bet they were pleased with Birmingham finishing higher last season. Actually Birmingham had the lowest kit sponsor deal last season. Typically cheap of the Walkers.

So hang on, you moan about the trust sponsering Brum, and now you want them to give them more moolah? Sponsoring a club is for profit, which could, I suppose, go towards Blackburn.

And why do you feel that the 600m should be available to the club? I have a few grand in savings, and I own a second rate PC. That doesnt mean I'm gonna go spend all my savings on a new PC. There are other, more important things to spend that cash on. And lets not forget, that the trust is following the wish of Rovers greatest ever supporter. Jack wanted the club to operate on its own two feet. We've had the mothering days, and the trust is guiding us through learning to walk. If we plundered all that cash year in, year out, eventually it'd run out, we'd have huge wages, and find ourselves playing Accrington as a season highlight. And if I had 600m, while I would like to thik I'd give tonnes of it to the club, I'd be more likely in all honesty to use it on PROFIT making companies so that we could keep supporting Rovers financially.

    Insult Deleted.

  12. Performance argument = Rubbish, ever moreso with increasing broadband speeds. Perhaps on non-BB theres minimal difference (although not that I ever noticed).

Security = Yes, FF on its own is far more secure than IE. But then, having the internet without a firewall, etc, would be completely idiotic, FF or not. They more than cover the security holes in IE.

Fearures = By gimmicks I meant the useless downloads that dominate the add-ons, skins and the likes.

But yes, IE is a developers hell.

Anyway, I'm not gonna have this argument again. People will use what they want to use.
