  1. It sounds like somebody in the youth set-up made a huge mistake by allowing Adam Barton to leave.

Apparently Bolton are after him already, and I've heard nothing but good things about his performances so far.

Was reading up about him as he got called into the Northern Ireland squad today for our qualifier against Italy (Dads from here apparently)

Barton started of in the youth ranks at hometown club Blackburn Rovers before being released at the age of sixteen due to a serious back injury. Although originally seen as a gamble due to his injury, Preston North End gave Barton a youth scholarship which was awarded which eye catching performances at youth and reserve team level, these performances earned the midfielder a two-and-a-half-year contract in December 2008 with fellow youngster, Danny Mayor.
  2. As an aside, the commentating was disgraceful. They were literally willing United to score, appalling stuff.

Indeed, the co commentator may as well have been chanting along with the United fans in the Darwen End. Will be writing a complaint to Sky that I expect a neutral and balanced commentary for my £8 next time

  3. 4 losses in a row, sinking uncontrollably towards the bottom 3. Massive changes need to be made in January, and they must start from the defence.

The defending was the best part of our performance today. Quite simply as Modes says, we miss Sav and Reido and we are getting overrun in the midfield increasing the pressure and workload on our defence. Its a shame Hughesy didnt buy Haested cause we sure could do with him right now alongside Toogs :(

Also a bit ###### off at MGP and McCarthys effort today. McCarthy went round the pitch like a child giving off after that free kick incident. MGP was rubbish and I was astonished Hughesy subbed Bentley over him.

    United deserved it easily

  4. just watching derry city v psg on eurosport now, a link came along the bottom saying mike newell will be the pundit for tonights match, could do with another hatrick tonight.

Aye thats a repeat of the 1st leg in Derry. 2nd leg kicks off at the same time as our game but I believe its on BBC2 NI and possibly Setanta Sports so its all good. I have the major jitters right now about the game, easily the biggest game the club has had since the League Cup Final IMO.

  5. With players like Lafferty coming through, the future does seem bright for them.

BRFC, what are your opinions on Lafferty btw?

Very much the stereotypical targetman but with very good touch and control unlike many others. He is guaranteed to be the future 2nd striker for Northern Ireland alongside Healy considering he is only 18. He along with Davis and Evans are part of the promising crop of youngsters we have coming through the system. Evans in particular who made his debut last night at the age of 18 was superb, could well be a future Man Utd star.

Burnley are certainly a team to monitor at the moment as far as NI fans are concerned with Jones, Lafferty and Duff in the ranks.

  6. And why is that one decision the refs fault that we lost the game?

Simply because had we got the pen and scored the game was at 1-1 and we wouldnt have had to leave huge gaps at the back which led to the 2nd.

However good we play we cannot beat the likes of Chelsea if the referee makes terrible basic errors like that.

  7. Simple today lads. The whole team bar MGP and Oojier played very well IMO and the referee completely screwed us over...

The pen we should have had for Roberts

The booking Savage got meaning he couldn't be so committed (he got the ball and didnt touch Essien ffs)

After crying out for a creative right hand midfielder I take it all back because Bentley was superb today as was Emerton. An additional creative midfielder in the middle before the deadline will suffice.

  8. Rovers 17 - Chelsea 15

Attendance 24,321 of which 37% will be aged 16 or under and 15% will be OAPs.

2,514 will not attend the match and will watch it on TV.

The Blackburn End fast food "cafe" will serve 2,168 hot dogs at half time.

Im going to go for a Rovers 2-1 win. Maybe its just me but I'm incredibly pumped for the game tomorrow, we showed promising signs on Wednesday and with a fresh new signing at the back I think we could really do well tomorrow. Just my gut feeling :tu:

  9. We finished 6th in the league and are in Europe next year so he shouldn't need convincing to remain and so if he doesn't wish to remain a Rover we should sell him as soon as possible. I'm sure Sparky is as frustrated as I am with this shocking and disgusting lack of loyalty from Reid.

Thanks for the season Steven now sod off <_<

    My apologies Steven

Great to see a player pledging his future to the club like this. Hopefully a certain other player will follow suit ;)
