  1. It doesnt say when you made your prediction. unsure.gif

Right you are. It's the eighth post down, forwarded on August 8th 2005. I was reluctant to supply a source because the rest of my predictions table was rubbish and I wanted to keep it a secret and live off my top-six predicting legend forever, but now I've been exposed as a big fat predicting phoney for the whole forum to see.

Looking forward to seeing the rest of your predicting results. I'm interested to see if any of you can top ol' 'Top Six' here. cool.gif

(Is there anyway to change screen names? I want to be called Top Six sad.gif )

  2. I saw the goals, because I just got back from the game (being a London Rover finally pays off!), and a hugely exciting game it was - well, the second half at least.

Thompsons goal was brilliant - can't remember too much about it to be honest except it was a great moment when it hit the top corner. I think Kiely scuffed a clearance and was out of position, it fell to Thompson a fair way out and he hit it into the top corner, with the outside of his boot I think judging by the curl.

Pedersen did well to set up the third, and really I remember few chances other than the five goals, but that was enough to make it one of the most exciting games I've seen.

  3. This is where being a Rovers fan in isolation in the South East comes in handy - Charlton are the most local ground to me!

One bus ride and a short walk will do it for me, very much looking forward to it. I don't get to go to many Blackburn games, knowing no other Blackburn supporters and not being able to drive, so any extra games down here is good for me.

  4. But this is the point that I struggle with. Why is it patriotic to support Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool or Man Utd when they play in Europe? Why is it for the good of the country?

They are only really representing themselves and their fans, not the country. TBH I'm not sure any of those teams can really be classed as being particularly English when you consider the nationality of the majority of the playing and coaching staff (maybe Utd at a push!)

I live in Sheffield. At the moment much of the talk round here is of Sheff Utd's good cup run. Do you think that Wednesday fans were sat at home rooting for Utd to beat Arsenal on Saturday 'cos it's nice to see a Sheffield team do well'? I don't think so. Were you rooting for Burnley last night against Derby cos it's good for Lancashire teams to do well?

I just don't understand why people who normally dislike the so-called big boys, suddenly become big fans when they play in a European competition.

I think it's because most English fans want other countries to view our league as being up there with the Spanish and Italian ones. If all the English teams go out of Europe early then it'll just confirm other European fans thoughts that we have an inferior league to them, wheras if we have some English teams doing well then it looks good for us.

I don't particularly care if Arsenal, Chelsea or Man Utd win the Champions League, but I am hoping they all give a better showing of themselves in their return games. At the moment, English teams as a whole just look stupid after their performances, seen as those teams are supposed to be the best we have to offer.
