How often in the British Isles do you think we are able to get non farmed oysters ? Like a lot of other products now oysters can dispel the myth that a farmed product isn't essentially an inferior one. Albeit in the case of the oyster it's a forced decision .
other than some of those that come into Brixham lf are seen as some of the best , I expressed surprise that those at source were not th finest.
The best oyster I had was a class four French oyster at azurmendi near Bilbao , size of an abalone . Had some great little ones at le bernardin too. Had some in New Orleans which were good . Wild though as you can imagine however not the best . They seemed to cook them mostly there .

To be honest I was being slightly sarcastic about the moor , we went camping in a few spots and that was ok, not seeing anyone other than a few deer for miles. Very good, a little hunting. I expected fort William to be nothing more than a car park for shearings but I can still express my disappointment can't I?
Sorry about the typo , really sorry about that . I actually think it was my iPad that thought I'd misspelled. I'll revise next time as I'll know it's a test. How did you get the conclusion I was expressing surprise about the climb? I clearly wasn't . About 3 and a half thousand feet of rock scrambling , shear drops, ice wind rain etc, I'd prepared for that. You have to when some of your mates who persuade you to do it are into things like mountains , bikes etc so are full of that sort of self satisfaction when it comes to traipsing around in bad weather.
I'm rather fortunate. I've dined in some of the best and most revered places in the world , I was hoping for more in Scotland, why were the oysters I had at loch fyne not the best loch fyne oysters I've ever had? Disappointing .
My post wasn't a great moment but in hindsight neither was yours.

I had the misfortune to climb the Ben Nevis arrette recently. Hard work. Scotland was dire , particularly fort William, rannoch moor slightly better
Spoilt by bike bellends 3 abreast, I know that's another thread but total bell ends
No good food outside of edinborough in Scotland btw, been to 3 chimneys on sky and glen eagles. Rubbish

Lenclume is a great experience always love it . I'm less sold on he French and fera as they seem un natural replications . I've never stayed over at lenclume but hear in some ways it can be a mixed bag perhaps due to the old buildings spread out across the village .
I strongly recommend lake road kitchen if in the area
Any good London suggestions perhaps a bit different ? Got clove club booked and nothing else
White swan at fence good recently btw . A northcote protege

Probably yuzu

Is that smith? My links playing up . Freemasons much improved but it's taken many curious visits
Thenodrog I was previously commenting on the idea that the people pissing their pants over horsemeat were unlike me, and it seems you more than happy to eat any old beef no matter what life it led
Little New York food update
Le bernardin - as expected
Spotted pig - superb, shame we couldn't keep ab in this country
Momofuku ko - super although the magic has gone at new premises re the previous mystery
Various great burgers and pizzas especially in Brooklyn
Honourable mention to the beer selection at JFK shake shack . JFK food and drink selection an embarrassment of riches compared to our airports
Where did you see the rat by the way ? If it was in a beer garden there are a couple I can think of where it would be unfortunately unavoidable
-
You would expect it to be gutted in a British pub
Some cultures like it totally whole but to us convention suggests gutting
Just been to the spotted pig ... Really good

New York this week funny old city but as long as I eat Chang and Bloomfield it's ok
I go to northcote once a month I know the price
I've edited that didn't t want to be confrontational that would be the last thing I'd want
-
For what you get at northcote 20 something quid ... Absurd value
Mr villa eh good stuff
Paul heathcote on the other hand ... @#/? poor
Yeah re Chang I am talking western world . Guy is great though up there with Michael bras and juan arzak for the best food I've had
-
But less people have heard of lees. Chang has made it accessible
Who is having their pants taken down ?
-
Neither you nor the seafood pub company know what ramen is ? Coincidence has it I'll be at momofuku noodle bar this week . You could argue Dave Chang as reinvented Asian food
Yeah healys ain't bad at all but here is no comparison , especially concerning the whole experience.Less than half the price for same standard food at Healy's
No white ghetto in sight either
-
ny mistake

Northcote as ever showed great value again
Used to think it was a tad formal but it's just not
Hawksmoor also cracking
Just can't bring myself to dine at seafood pub company
I prefer my seafood close to the source rather than the white ghetto
