  1. Unlike some poeple i did get excited with Mac's press conference with the chance to see some young stars get experience, this continued with the squad selection and then with this side it has all ended....

Agree with Four Lane that Gerrard and Lamps should be going for the same position. Downing was always going to be given a chance with Cole out and he being a Boro player. But i do like the inclusion of Hargreaves as he earned it in Germany. Defoe and Crounch dont make me excited and so have to do a lot to make me feel any different.

    Prediction: 3-1 England

  2. benni looks to be a class act from the very little which i have seen of him and all of the information which i have heard about him. but he is getting old and i thought 4 years on a contract is one year too long.

he is a big name and we should be proud that we can attarct someone of his stature even if it is a year late. BUT we still need more, there are only 2 places in the team which i would think that we dont need any strengthening at all, goalkeeper and left midfield. everywhere else, you could argue needs at least another new face. i understand that this will not happen and i am happy to accept it but to really have a go next season on all fronts we need 2 new players, there are many combinations of these aswell,

LB +RB- maybe probably the safe option, just in case

RB+CM-this i feel is the most likely option with the RB most likely to be able to play on the wing as well- agathe??

CM+CF- the popular choice especially if the CM has some flair, but if they have this then is there any need for another striker?

lots to think about for MH, this spending summer is by no means over....

  3. what has happened here is absolutley disgusting i think that the first set of punishments were just fair. at that point they should have said that there is no chance of appeal and that would be the end of it. they have been proved guilty of cheating and yet they keep wanting more and more until there will be no punishment at all.

this was a great chance for italian football to stand up and say 'no' we will not accept cheating of any form in our game. surely there must be suspicions now that even this appeals system has some underhand dealings going on?? this is just my idea and i would hope that it is not true.

  4. greggyk i am probably the same age as you and have the same memories, owens run and goal against argentina was brilliant which if i were a neutral would haave been a fantastic game to watch, so much drama never knowing who was going to score next.

Another memory would be last world cup when in the group stages germany absolutly thrashed arabia, with new boy klien (sp) getting a hat full, not a great match but just one that stands out because you couldn't believe how bad arabia was.

Finally that game in the morning against brazil, so many different emotions, from going one nil up against the most amazing team and then they started playing and we were slowly pushed out of the game by the class of the forwards and svens poor tactics, just felt so helpless to stop the might of brazil.

    :tu: good memories :tu:

  5. i really dont mind what made him stay because without him the prem would be nothing. He makes watching motd worth it and you just love arsenal matches when they are on because you never know what will happen when he is on the pitch, a good example would be the CL game against prague i think when he scored that amazing goal with the outside of his boot. Top class.

  6. Bloody brilliant. Fantastic feeling. Had a Chelsea supporting brother watch the game with me and it was pissing and moaning all the way. "Dirty Blackburn", "OMG the air touched him - that should be a penalty!", and "we don't have our full team in".

Tell you what, what a bunch of divers that Chelsea team have, especially Wright-Phillips. The air touches him and he falls over blike a bowling ball has hit him.

That was fully deserved. We dominated the game and we could have easily had a bigger margin. It was like that. A bigger margin would have done us justice. You can't say that against Chelsea everyday. Big deal if it was a weakened team. You can only beat what is put in front of you.

I was well chuffed for Savage when he got "his" goal, but it looks like Reid got his head to it. Ah well.

I just want to point out the performance of one Khizanishvili tonight. He was absolute immense and led the defence line well. He gets a 10 out of 10 in my book. Hughes has made a brilliant signing and Rangers have done the rarest of things by losing out in a deal to us.

Zura was the bright light in a team who all played well. Even the substitutes did their job, and Mokoena did not put a foot wrong. I think he has been hard done by this season by not getting enough matches after a disastrous opener to the season, and hopefully he is given the chance next season to be in the mix a lot more. Peter was just as good, really pushing Chelsea to the limit on the left. What a prospect that man is. He'll be making headlines in a couple of seasons.

What else is their to say? Europe here we come! It is well deserved and I have very positive feelings for the summer. I'm sure we will come out on top in the transfer dealings. The players surely recognise they are onto a good thing. I'm more than confident of Bellamy staying. he has no compelling reason to leave, really. Unless Chelsea come in for him, and then surely a Chelsea purchase would see Hughes with a bonanza that would surely be put to good use.

i think you are being a bit generous with saying that moks didnt put a foot wrong he was awful and should be good value to go in the summer, just not good enough.

  7. i dont like notlob but i do think that sam would be great for england. He has great tactical awarness and where sevn puts his best players into one system , sam would find the best formation that works even if it doesnt have all of our best players in it. He would also stand up against any big player if he had to drop them.

We would never have the brazil situation again when sven froze, tactics during a game at international level is sooo high because of the higher class of players in every team.
