  1. Once is bad but to repeat the mistake twice is completely unforgiveable for a professional outfit who complete transfers every 6 months.  As many have pointed out already - there are never any reports of deadlines being missed when players leave.   We were told by GB that a robust process was being put in place to stop this episode being repeated - whoever audited that 'process' and signed it off needs to be accountable.

If that was anyone else you'd be down the road with your P45 tucked in your back pocket.

    Absolute shambles.

This transfer of McGuire was 100% cocked up on purpose. Call me a pessimist, a conspiracy theorist, whatever. Every sale that requires money being spent gets fucked about for months. O’riordan took all month to sort and it was £500k. Funny how there’s never any paperwork ‘issues’ on outgoings. Ennis’ 11th hour move went through just fine…

Kyle McFadzean said in his interview with Radio Lancs that it took a week to sort a free transfer from Coventry.  No fee involved, yet it seemingly takes forever to get anything approved. If this was any other business then people would be fired for sheer incompetence.

In the post match interview JDT said that one of the signings last played in November, one signing has played 89 (to my memory) minutes in total this season and the rest were young loan players who need to get up to speed...

    He clearly is not happy

It was telling none of them were used off the bench yesterday,  that was clearly a message from the manager to those above him.

This is always the case under these owners, Indian court issues or not.

The way they run things it will never change.

We always rely heavily on loans in important positions. This results in a never ending cycle of players coming and going every transfer window.

They have adopted an obsession with using the academy and the 'development' model. By its very nature the whole purpose of it is to develop players for sale. Therefore we need to create spaces in the squad and first XI to accommodate the next 'project' and move people out the other way to justify its continuation.

The contracts - we now have a strict wage ceiling which essentially means that the moment a player reaches a level of establishment in the Championship he isn't going to renew terms with us, because he knows he can get more elsewhere and we aren't going to budge on that. Some might call that prudent, I'd call it stupidity as it means we either see players walking for nothing due to failing to renew their deals or it means they wander off to rivals usually at a lower price than they should just to solve the issue before it reaches a crescendo.

End result is we are constantly going to be waving off our experienced proven players and having to try to replace them.

I don't think anyone really benefits from this, other than agents who can make a good sum shifting their players in and out on a regular basis.

Come the summer our position will be horrific, even if we survive in the Championship. Make no mistake the Wharton money is gone, as is the Kaminski and Phillips money, and they'll already be plotting the next departures.

They'll be hoping that Travis pushes for a permanent move and Ipswich or an other offer cash. The only problem on that front is that if JDT walks the next manager might want him here, and they won't be able to play the 'bust up with the manager' card again straight away.

Then they've Szmodics whose value will be at its peak and he will be getting fed up singlehandedly digging us out of the mire in games and knowing what the owners and execs are up to so suspect he'll be next up, they'll sell that one on his age making it a perfect time to sell.

Pats on the back all around except we are on a one way ticket to League One, fortunately for Waggott and Pasha league status and position doesn't matter and isn't their 'department' so it will be a shrug of the shoulders and more cuts/sales to plug the gap.

Great post.  Surely the owners won't want a relegation to League 1 which makes all this penny pinching and austerity even more frustrating.   The club is in complete stagnation - it's been clear that the money generated from the sale of Wharton has or was ear marked for running costs to get the club through to the end of the season. Complete slap in the face or every single fan.

So our two Academy gems sign for London clubs within 6 months of each other.

As previously posted, the share of profit on sale should give us a decent chunk of 50 to 100 million in two or three years and selling him now means we can use 12m in the transfer market wisely with 2 days to deadline.

11m will inevitably be held back.

If I were Venkys lawyers I would be using March not to plead the case for operational costs to be covered but to get the shackles removed.

If the shackles are not removed, we really are in the land of wtf

Playing Devil's advocate here but isn't that the job of the Academy? Find a diamond, polish them up and sell them on for a decent chunk of money. Sadly with the way the club is being run you and with the well documented financial issues this isn't a deal that the club can turn down.

I'm pleased he's getting an opportunity in the Premier League but what a boring move.

100%. Trying to stay in the division every year playing negative football under the current manager.  I would have stayed til the summer and see what else came along - however the club need money now and I am sure were encouraging him that it would be a good move for his career.

I get we're a town club and it's always going to be difficult to get big crowds (Birmingham doing poorly considering the size of the city) - but this paints a depressing picture. We're a similar sized town to Huddersfield/Preston - but they've obviously got their ticket pricing right.

And Huddersfield is a rugby league town I would say rather than football.

  8. Really professional performance today.  Defensively excellent and looked a threat on transition albeit for some poor final balls we should perhaps have scored in the first half.

Thought Hyam and Brittain were really good.  Leonard and Dolan are not the answer if we want to be in and around the Top 6.

It goes without saying but we’re crying out for a No 9 and a wide player.  The club need to support the manager and give him the tools required to make the squad competitive.
