Not as hilarious as scraping by 10 man Fleetwood in the cup at home, in the 90th minute.

So tell me, what was hilarious considering I was just paraphrasing your fellow uncle f***ers?

Christ mate …… our reserves won, kept a clean sheet and had 30 odd shots on goal. That’s hilarious? Wait till you see Tommy Cooper, you’ll piss yourself.

What’s hilarious is you trying to stretch some narrative about how we’re rattled and then chucking in a nonsensical abusive term at the end against supports of a team with a double digit lead at the top of the table. Describing a 15 game unbeaten run as lacklustre.

I’ll leave posting on here for a while. I’m actually a bit embarrassed for you.

It's not just against Blackpool, so my question was due to some of their fans on social media saying performance levels had dropped recently. I saw one conversation saying that they can afford to lose a few games now, and another that said that Twine had been disappointing compared to Cork. Then yesterday fighting amongst themselves and I saw a few bits of online tittle tattle between their superfans and people questioning the tactics.

Clearly a triggering subject. Imagine them if the wheels really start to fall off.

    That’s genuinely hilarious.

injuries (ha), london (haha) determined opposition (hahaha)

Like you're the only team facing such challenges.

    Excuses, excuses.

To reiterate again, excuses for what?

We’ve won six of those nine. Conceded three goals. We’re more clear at the top now than at any time this season.

What are we supposed to be making excuses for?

Excuses, excuses. We've had 8 games in 26 days, and have a much smaller squad with just as many injuries.

Maybe you're just no the new Barca like your deluded fans think you are 😉

What excuses? We’re unbeaten in that period?

It sounds like your last five or six games have been a bit lacklustre (barring Huddersfield) coinciding with Tella being a bit off it, but it may just be that your fans are overreacting. Are a few injured?

We’ve got a lot of injuries at the moment :-

Benson, Rodriguez, Brownhill went off yesterday after half an hour, Maatsen and Harwood-Bellis are defenders but their passing is huge for us, Churlinov.

Zaroury and Tella look a bit tired. They’ve played more football this year than any other season in their career. We’ve played 9 games in 27 days - it’s amazing how many we’ve won all told.

We’ve a clear week before Wigan now. I expect a big performance then. Even yesterday we weren’t great but their keeper made three really good saves.

Surprised you've only just acknowleged this tbh.

Wasn't a forest fan killed in Burnley not so long ago?

That was in a Burnley pub. And not football related - from memory the guy who did it was a Liverpool fan.

I’m talking about a specific element of our away support and their conduct this year.

  7. The other thing - if we go up and come down again …… so be it.

In the same way it’s tough for Championship clubs to compete with Parachute Payment clubs it’s impossible for clubs our size to compete with about 60% of the Premier League.

Even if we’re the best run club in the country (which we were for a while, and arguably you were pre-Venkys) your shelf life inevitable ends. It’s the nature of the beast for clubs our size.

Think about it this way. When we finished second to get promoted, the core of that team remained in the squad for our premier league and league cup winning season the year after. We finished 10th.

Burnley have absolutely pissed this league but how many of those players could form the nucleus of a team that could do similar next year?

    Muric

    Roberts, Beyer, Ekdal, Taylor

    Cullen, Brownhill

    Zaroury, Benson

All more than good enough I’d say.

See how the striker develops. Short of a midfielder and I think we’ll probably buy Maatsen - who will also be good enough.

We’re not competing with Chelsea and Mudryk. We’re competing with Crystal Palace - and they have James McArthur and Matete.

The problem they're going to have is that they've spent £40m+ on an entire squad of top level Championship players that are all going to need replacing if they want to survive in the Premier League.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that.

I think a good few of them could play in the Premier League.

We gave United a game in the cup and battered Bournemouth at their place.

Not all of them will make it. But I think enough of them will. The bottom half of the Premier League isn’t all that.

They’ve done what all relegated clubs should do but not many actually do.

    It’s bloody annoying!

    I think you’re dead right.

I’ve rubbed some people up the wrong way by talking about how much better we are - but what I’ve also said is we’ve got a massive advantage over most of the division.

Not just the parachute payments - but selling players for £70 million. It gives you a massive advantage, and whilst there is a lot of change to manage we should be going straight back up.

Somebody said earlier that our lead reflects badly on the other promoted teams - and that is absolutely bang on. You need either amazing recruitment or fantastic coaching to try and compete - and even then the odds are stacked against you.

(Bank) Tella has scored a hattrick for the Dingles against Nobbers.

An appropriately named matchwinner for a team that has bought the league.

    Minus £35 million net spend.

Not spent as much on a single player as you did for Rhodes or Brereton.

Watford probably do, thanks to Sarr

    Sheffield Utd definitely don’t

Norwich it’ll be close. But most have you pinned as second highest

Cork, Westwood before he left, Rodriguez, Barnes, Brownhill, Gudmondsen, maybe Muric will all be £30k+pw

Brewster and Berg will be on mega money at Sheffield United. They were £20 million plus signings. McBurnie was £20 million too

Suggestion is our wage bill has dropped from north of £70 million to under £30 mill. We’ll make a massive profit this year.

Its easy to have ambition when you've got £30m+ to spend, pay the highest wages in the league and have just raked in over £500m by being in the Premiership.

We didn’t spend £30 million plus.

We don’t have the highest wages in the league. Watford, Sheff United and Norwich all pay more than us.

We have off days for sure but playing at our best we are anything but ordinary - though I appreciate we are ‘no Fulham or Bournemouth like last season’ (although we have 4 points more than Fulham had at this point last season and 12 more than Bournemouth 🤷‍♂️)

Haven’t we scored more goals than anybody in the country too?

    Ordinary.

  15. 1 hour ago, booth said:

Oh how I’d love to go back to those days when we had a pragmatic club and Burnley couldn’t even be bothered to try.

What a bizarre appointment that was.

Since then, Howe aside, you’ve had some luck.

Dyche - Mr nobody wanted by nobody, sacked by Watford. Could have gone either way for Burnley but manages to be your best manager of modern times.

Kompany - doesn’t do an amazing job at Anderlecht, could get worse for Burnley, but given a decent kitty and manages to crack the second tier.

I mean ….. that’s one way of looking at it.

Another is that Dyche got Watford to just outside the play-offs in his one season despite selling his top scorer. It was only a change of owner that saw him leave.

And Kompany took over Anderlecht after their worst ever league finish of 8th and had them finishing 3rd on his last season.

But …. yeah, sure …. luck or whatever.

A club like Burnley (and Rovers) will always struggle to survive in the modern Premier League. Even if you get every single decision right, ultimately, someone will poach your best players, manager, DOF and you can’t get every decision right forever.

You’ll go up this year, may well win the league, but as you say next year will be a battle. As a spectacle I’m very much of the opinion that watching your team winning in the Championship is more fun than watching your team struggle to compete in the Premier League. The sooner the European League comes the better.

Agree with every word of this.

  18. I got some stick on here for saying Blackburn would do well to get within 30 points of us and I stand by it.

I think we’ll get 100 points plus this year so that would have Blackburn getting in to the 70’s.

We’ve sold a lot of players but the parachute payments make a massive difference at this level. £25 million in the Prem gets you maybe one and a half decent players but it gets you loads in the Championship. You have to buy well (which we have), but after that we should go up.

I think we’re in for some slappings next year when we go back up again, and will likely come straight back down. But the gulf is huge ….. and it’s only getting bigger I’m afraid. It does need looking at.
