I wouldnt be in favour of Jerome. Not what we need imo. We have 3 strikers even if Nuttall is loan out. I would be looking at Carlton Morris from Norwich. Was on loan at Shrewsbury last season

Is he a large physically imposing type?

Well I enjoyed that. Wasn't the Lincoln team I was expecting but as the saying goes, can only beat what is in front of you.

I was struggling to decide a man of the match. Conway put alot of effort in and lead by captains example, nyambe was excellent. He has become Mr consistent this season. He covered well and won everything but step forward Lewis Travis. He was absolutely fantastic today. What an engine that boys got . Never stopped running, he's dogged and aggressive (in the right way, bar Portsmouth) and wins tackles, drives forward and got an assist. Superb performance from him.

Downing was steady as was young Grayson who had a comfortable night and was never put under any real pressure but did his job simply and well.

Bell put another good performance in particularly going forward. Caddis was sloppy in the first half , giving the ball away far to many times but had a very good second half.

Palmer is a funny one I think I'm going to love and hate in equal measure. He's like the roughest diamond I have seen. There Is genuinely a top class premier league talent in their. He delights and frustrates in equal measure. Top class free kick and has improved since the very start of the season so hopefully his positives will outweigh the over playing and  defensive naivety.

Graham did what Graham does and took his goal well, solid performance.

And finally. Butterworth was awesome when he came on. Enthusiasm, confidence, drive, determination, link up play. What a cameo that was. He's an exciting prospect and everything that nuttall isn't. He is appalling. Apart from that awful header he missed it's everything else with him. He doesn't look like he believes in himself. There is no spark to his play contrast that to Butterworths performance, that's what nuttall should be all about, especially when he is on the bench trying to get in the team. Nuttall has shown time and again he isn't up to it. Ship him off to non league where he belongs. Give Butterworth his place on the bench. I saw more in 15 minutes out that lad than I have ever seen from nuttall at any level whether it be first team or youth.

I agree with the people saying there is a buzz around ewood. I feel like when Dunn, Jansen, Duff and co where playing like something is building. Belief , momentum and that black cloud that has hung over ewood is finally heading back over towards turd more. Well done Tony . Onwards and upwards

Nuttall scored Butterworth didn't. Surely a striker is all about scoring goals, not running channels, link up play and holding it up? ;)

Difference is that Hughes was a brilliant player who adapted to a new midfield position late on, and Jerome is a journeyman striker. The only role I'd like him in is as a loan to cover Samuel's injury and to let Nuttall go to a 3rd division team to get games.

Tbh I still would prefer Sam Gallagher, but I suspect Southampton want too much of his 22,000 wages covered.

With us only playing one up front and having Graham, Armstrong and Brereton to choose from...Jerome would be a good addition with his goal record, a another option, but would he start enough to warrant a purchase? I'd think not. Derby paid 1.5 mill for him in Jan I think, and he scored...I want to say 5 in 18 I was reading earlier? Doubt they would release him for nowt, and he is 32. A loan until Jan or all season would work for us, but would it work for Derby unless we threw more money at it than we probably should?

At 32 year old, I'd prefer it just to be a loan.. But then we gave mark Hughes a perm contract at 36 year old and that worked out amazingly overall!

Jerome not involved for derby tonight at all, so I think he'll be off somewhere.

There was only ever one person earmarked to replace Sam, sadly. Andy Cole wrote an online article before Sam was even fired (might have been before the takeover finalised even) saying a little birdy had told him it was going to happen and an SEM coach was going to get the job full time. Might have some minor details wrong but was along those lines.

Sorry.. I should have said the popular choices, amongst our 'fans'..

I almost put a like on that, but I don't feel it was overrated. I think most fans gauge it just right...he built those tools. Just didn't know how to use them. He deserves credit for steadying the ship and recruiting well. Sadly, he failed to get us at least into the playoffs, which the squad he assembled was definitely capable of.

He did well, but it was past time to let him go. Unfortunately we just replaced him badly. Parallels to Allardyce there really (except Sam should have been kept til season's end and then replaced properly).

The choices to replace Sam inc laudrup and jol.. Both been out of work for years having failed miserably..

Bowyer should have got his side promoted. He had all the tools but not the managerial nouse.

If anything the job he did was overrated.

    Is that 'IMO' Stuart?

Don't forget, GB had to carry Rhodes in his 11.. Quite a hinderence he never wanted..

Norwich finding out about that right now..

Strange to field both Graham and Nuttall, especially due to, as someone said earlier, Graham's participation in a midweek match last week putting him on the bench on Saturday. Must be because of the Brereton deal being completed, and presumably Arma being back. I guess Graham will be on the bench again. However, Mowbray has shown he doesn't introduce anyone straight into the team the week they sign, so Brereton will likely be bench at best for Bristol. Armstrong up front must be the tactic for the weekend...bit of a risk though, should his injury recur before then.

A few puzzling lineup and formation choices tonight, but let's see at the end if it worked. Also...who the hell is Joe Grayson? Not seen his name crop up before even in the youth team discussions.

    Simon Grayson's son
