And round and round we go? Or maybe, we go out there, and find players who will hit the ground running immediately? With us struggling to score goals, we are banking on a guy who may or may not get us that goals? I mean BBD is struggling to find the net, so Hirst better do, or we are fooked
If finding a guaranteed 20 goal a season striker was that easy everyone would have one.

Is it Groundhog Day in here? Just the same conversation over and over. Give Hirst a chance to prove himself if he does, great we’ll sign him. If he doesn’t also good, we’ll move on to the next one without getting burnt.

That makes no sense whatsoever.
Even if he signs a new deal with Leicester before joining Rovers that would tend to suggest that they want to keep him in the long run.
Therefore they won't be prepared to put an option to purchase at an agreed fee in and in the very unlikely event he does well his time here will come to an end when the loan period expires and we'll be priced out of a permanent move.
No it means that they can make the price higher.

Think the most exciting thing about Hyam is he’s played 40 odd games the past few seasons so we know we can rely on him.

I would not oppose to a new left back but Pickering certainly isnt woeful. He was very steady in the first 3 games and has been no worse than Brittain in the last 2.
Whilst I agree with what you’ve said I’m far more worried about him winning his battles than Brittain. He’s not fast and he’s not physical, having neither of those traits makes it very hard to be a problem for any half decent winger. You can just knock it down the line and skipped past him.

Has to be a CB.
It does amuse me that he keeps saying ask Gregg when he knows full well Gregg isn't going to do any interviews until the window shuts (apart from talking about a new signing when it happens probably). Cheeky chappy is our JDT.
Interestingly he also said we lost 8 and only brought 3 in and we’re looking to improve all over the pitch.

JDT is the master of saying nothing!
In fairness he’s a head coach not a manager. None of this is his job.

Give me a number 10 as effective as Dack any day of the week, for all of your "metrics" about athleticism.
Hope Szmodics can step up to the Championship at the third time of asking, hopefully he can also fit into the same side as Dack and they can get the best out of each other. We need players that can run in behind off the ball and it seems like he wants to do that.
Easy to say it’s the third time of asking but 7 goals as a number 10 in arguably the poorest team in the league isn’t bad going. He’ll do much better surrounded by better players.

I seem to remember seeing Szmodics' namepop up on Final Score a fair amount of times as a goal scorer, though I couldn't say in which division. Who knows, he may play better outside of a team that yo-yos between the first and second division, and has a bit more talent.
Scored 16 in Peterborough’s promotion season (year before last)

Fair play to Brannagan, loyalty is hard to come by these days.

Saw that one of Nixon's denials was predicated on Brittain and Bowler not being suited to being in the same team.
I know that doesn't prove anything, but is there perhaps a point there? Is Bowler a proper chalk-on-his-boots winger? And if so is it likely we'll be playing that sort of player alongside a wing back like Brittain?
No that’s complete waffle. Brittain gets up the line and bowler likes to cut in.

Probably because he gets more right than anyone else when it comes to Rovers.
He also said Cantwell was our main target and we’ve apparently just forgot all about it. He was also completely in the dark over the bids for Szmodics.

Why does everyone just believe every word Nixon says? 😂

Barnsley's manager was on Radio Sheffield last night stating that Barnsley have rejected bids for Styles. The implication being that Barnsley haven't even accepted a bid, let alone a club being in advanced talks with the player.
Talks will happen with agents without the clubs knowledge all the time if we’re being honest.

Couldn’t agree more. He was in the dark regarding the Brittain deal. By all accounts it was going on for weeks and he was none the wiser. Also it wouldn’t surprise me if that deal dragged on because we were trying to do a double deal for him and Styles.

Wouldn’t really listen to Sharpe he generally finds things out as they’re about to cross the finish line

Styles follows a fair few of our lot on Instagram if that counts for anything 😂

Feel like I’m in dreamland. Do we think Styles would play LWB and then play CM when trav/Buckley injured/suspended?
That’s a shout tbf. Think he’ll primarily be a midfielder but having versatile players really helps.

Has everyone calmed down saying nothing is happening now 😂

Sharpe saying that signing Brittain will open the door for Brown to go out on loan. Surely having him as back up RB is a better move for the club? JRCs natural position is further forward so I'd rather see him given a few minutes further up the pitch and used as emergency 3rd choice RB (maybe even 4th behind Carter)
Think it’s more because JDT favours an attacking full back

A big worry is the consistent assertion that he down tools last season when the chips were down, numerous questions and comments making out that he isn't a good man to be next to stood in the trenches.
I get what you’re saying here but this could be taken as ramblings of a bitter fanbase because they got relegated and he’s leaving.

Styles is from Bury so that could work in our favour, if he wants to be closer to home that is.
