It tells you a lot about the quality of chances created. You can call it bollocks all you like but we're not creating a lot of super clear chances. Against Sunderland for example, Diaz bangs one in from 20 yards, not sustainable to be winning games solely on the back of goals like that (especially when he's gone post January)

That's totally overlooking the three or four 1v1 situations that we wasted.  I also feel that we have wasted lots of good opportunities to put games to bed. Wigan (and quite a few games) - we were awful though.  It's our ball-retention that drives me mad.

In my opinion, XG stats are complete nonsense and just a rouse to get people to bet.

Read something where some data concluded the likeliness of scoring a whipped in corner is 3% but 6% of short corners end in a goal. I for one am happy the club semi to be adopting a data led approach, especially considering Hyam/Ayala are the only capable ones of scoring a header anyway.

More pressing for us, the chances of scoring a corner that hits the first man  stands at 0%

Alex definitely made appearances for Rossendale United.

I grew up next to Dark Lane and had a purpose built hole in the fence so I could sneak on to watch.

Remember when Rossendale played Shrewsbury Town at home in the FA Cup.... It was a busy day for the police and my dad forbid me from sneaking on to the ground.

    Beware of Malcolm!

Two others that spring to mind, due to having business dealings with them both are Peter Divine and Alex Binnie.

Pete lived in Darwen last time I spoke to him and Alex (real name John Alex Binnie) lives in Bacup. Alex lives with Jan Meadowcroft one of the twin daughter's of the late professional  snooker player and commentator Jim Meadowcroft.

You've mentioned two names there that I know quite well. I've played alongside and against Alex and as a young man, I spent many late nights chatting with Jim when we used quiz together.

I always found him to be a lovely, humble but interesting guy and I miss those days.
