Gladwin and Wharton appear to be sharing Downing’s body too.
I assume Gladwin’s body has been donated to medical science but it all seems a bit unfair on Downing.

For anyone interested, Wil Trapp is playing for Columbus Crew live on Sky now.

chaddy is going on the assumption that we are 'safe' and we clearly arent yet
Actually, if you take what chaddy said literally, he is suggesting that the u21s should spend the afternoon looking at chavvy clothes.

Does anyone recognise any of the Brazilian names? Bear in mind they'll be about 24 now, I know many Brazilian players tend to share the same name.
Do you know the sort of range of ages (beyond the 24 you mention) they could be now? Wendel could be the one at Bordeaux but he is 27 now, good player though. Link

The 2nd leg of the Asian champions league final was on Eurosport last weekend. I accidentally turned it on and noticed Gomaa was playing. I didn't watch for long (got bored) but he didn't look any better than what we have already. The commentator said that he will win everything in the air but is uncomfortable on the ground.

If the question includes players who were transfered while uncapped but have subsequently played for England (like jeffers), Jermaine Defoe would count.
Moved from West Ham to Spurs for £7m in january transfer window 2004 and made England debut a few months later.

Will someone tell me what is wrong with starting Matteo in midfield? Has he been bad? Have we been leaking goals like a seive with him there?
Have we been playing decent opposition with him there? Has he played well there before? Did Leeds recognise him playing there was a major problem? Has he got the attributes to be a midfielder? Blah Blah Blah Matteo = Rubbish in Midfield
While flicking through the Sunday Express today I noticed an article, part of which was Souness talking about the new players. In relation to Matteo, Souness said something about how he could play in midfield when we play away, suggesting that he won't be a starter in midfield at home. If anyone has bought the Sunday Express they may be able to give a direct quote.

How we let Van Buyten slip past baffles me..
I'm sure that if you had informed the club that you were willing to stump up the 4 million euros required, Mr Souness would have been more than happy to sign him.

Where are all of these old codgers on short term contracts?
Players in the Rovers squad who are over 30:
Friedel
Amoruso
Short
Flitcroft
Tugay
Cole
Yorke
Dickov
Considering that Yorke will probably bugger off at some point during this summer, I personally wouldn't consider this excessive in terms of older players. Of the players we have signed last summer, in January and so far this summer (I make it 10) only 2 have been over 30. From the above list, Cole, Short and Tugay are all likely to disappear at the end of next season so I really don't see the problem, although I'm sure many will disagree.
Took a bit too long doing this and inadvertantly did the opposite of American - sorry.

top left is my cousin (not a member) then JPW next is Ste B. Front row, Mushy (far left) Me (far right)
May I ask what your cousin's name is? He looks like someone I know.

According to 'The People' sports column, our great summer clear-out comprises of names I've never heard of down at Ewood..
No mention of Todd, Yorke etc. going
That's because it's a list of players either released or out of contract. Neither Todd nor Yorke has been given a free transfer. The Rovers names on the list are players from the academy who the club feels aren't going to develop into good enough players for us.

Can we have a poll on which injury he's going to pick up 1st?
Dont be silly, theres no need for a poll! Its going to be the old hamstring
But hamstrings are soooo 2003/4! I fancy metatarsels to make a comeback - they never really took off first time around.
Actually I think hamstrings were 2002/03, last season was the year of the knee.

It's hard to judge Pedersen from only seeing 45 minutes in a surprisingly poor Norwegian side. What was slightly worrying was that he seemed to drift around the pitch and didn't spend much time playing like a winger. Whether this is a tactic employed by the national team or just the way Pedersen plays I don't know but the closest comparison I could make was that he was like a slightly taller, left sided David Thompson. Hopefully with Souness having been to a number of games to watch him, he'll know better as to how he plays.
I only watched up to half time as Pedersen was taken off but in the first half Martin Andresen did nothing to suggest that he should be bought/ have been bought as he was pretty average, as was Hoseth who we had been vaguely linked with.
Pedersen may be worth a go as he is still young but I'd leave the other two well alone.

Just to remind people or inform if you missed my post yesterday that you can see Morten Gamst Pedersen in action for Norway against Wales on BBC2 Wales (Sky Digital channel 961) k.o. 6.00pm today.
-
Didnt Chelski add Myrhe or however you sepll it, to their ridiculous amount of 'keepers?
I think you may be thinking of Jurgen Macho who was also at Sunderland
-
Does anyone know if Pedersen is in the Norway squad for the match against Wales on Thursday because its on the telly (Sky Digital channel 961 from 5:45). This would allow those of us not able to see him the chance to watch him in action against a reasonable team.
JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

Palmer averaged 52.5 minutes per appearance for Huddersfield, 28 minutes per appearance for Derby and 54.5 minutes per appearance for us.
In his season in the Championship for Huddersfield he played 24 times. He has played in 14 league matches in half a season for us.
I don’t think we have used him any differently in terms of game time to his previous loans, which I feel is a reflection of the difficulty he seems to have to influence games.
