  1. Nokia unveils ipod killer

Finnish mobile manufacturer Nokia has introduced the Nokia N91, a mobile handset with room for up to 3000 songs on an integrated four-gigabyte hard disk.

The device offers an industry standard 3.5mm stereo headset jack and permits transfer of music files from a PC or over the air.

The N91 is encased in stainless steel, with dedicated music keys on its face, which slide down to reveal the phone keypad. The Nokia N91 is a part of the new Nokia Nseries range of multimedia and smart-phone handsets.

'What sets the Nokia N91 apart is the fact that it is always connected - you can download new music while on the move, add it to your favorite playlist and then share your playlist with friends,' said Jonas Geust, vice-president, music at Nokia.

The N91 serves up to 12.5 hours of battery life and includes a stereo headset with remote control. The device supports MP3, M4A, AAC and WMA digital music formats.

The mobile offers WCDMA, WLAN and Bluetooth connectivity, permitting music downloads over the air.

Users will be able to drag and drop their music collections from a PC via USB 2.0.

The Nokia N91 also allows users to share playlists with others by multimedia message, e-mail or Bluetooth.

The device also contains a 2 megapixel camera, e-mail support, a web browser and video sharing.

Can you make phone calls on it ???!!!

  2. Sparky was my first choice, so I'm very happy with this.

My thoughts are that he has the confidence, experience and abilities to lift and remould the team. Under Souness, things were coming unglued, we heard more and more stories of dissent and back room bust ups, and the common denominator was Souness.

Sparky already had the confidence of the senior members of the team before he was even appointed.

I don't think he is going to come in a 'new broom' and try to get rid of the team en masse and replace it with his signings, somthing which would have happened with 90% of the other choices.

So very happy, welcome back Sparky.

    3-1 rovers against Pompey.

  3. I wonder whether the intense speculation that Keegan will be sacked by Man City will have a bearing on today's developments at Ewood?

There are more reports of pressure on Gary Megson- pprently there was a mass brawl amongst West Brom players and staff following their defeat at Liverpool.

The way things re going, 25% of the Premiership will have "lost" their manager within the first month of the season!

In which case the board better get its finger out or we'll finish up with the absolute dregs, or worse - Kevin Keegan.

  4. After 64 pages of beating this speculation to death, we're no nearer an answer than on page one.

Just out of interest though, given the possible short list, I'm wondering who the eventual manager would bring into the club as backroom staff/coaches/trainers. God knows we need a couple of good ones to get everyone singing off the same song sheet.

Colin Hendry for defensive coach anyone?

  5. I was told today that a source from inside the club said that the players were doing cartwheels when Souness announced his departur,e and that he had lsot the players, and was 3 or 4 games from the sack.  Moyes was mentioned as a popular choice with the club.

I should imagine the players outside the team were doing cartwheels.

Would you like to work for a strict boss ? or would you prefer Easy Street ?

Somewhere in between with some tactical nous would be good.

  6. Whatever we think of Shearer as a player/person/ex-rover we know bugger all about him as a manager.

Why we would want him as our manager is beyond me, and as Jim said the best we could hope for if he did turn out to be good is for him to naff off back to Newcastle as soon as they tire of Souness.

If the barcodes want Shearer to learn his trade somewhere, send him to Scunthorpe, or Grimbsy, but we (I) don't want him.

At least Sparky has managerial experience albeit at international level which is different to week in week out prem managering. Of all the names mentioned though I DO NOT WANT ex -England managers who were truely hopeless/a laughing stock at club level. With the exception of El Tel in his prime what has the others really acheived?

I would rather see a manager with the ability but who has not been given the chance to gain the experience, but who would grab the chance and give 110% ( note I said Manager NOT coach so no Kidd comparisons) than journeyman show ponies who have been around but have little or nothing to show for it except a long CV and a large bank balance.

I would not even consider some of the older names being considered. If as has been suggested Souness was a couple of games from the chop anyway, we've saved money, got rid of coaches we've been complaining about for years and now have an opportunity to get a manager to drag us out of the doldrums that Souness gleefully led us into over the past 18 months.

Souness was past his use by date and the Barcodes are welcome to him.

But 'Note to the Board' Please no has-beens, journeymen, or anyone who has been given the elbow by more that two clubs.

  7. Maybe it is a wind up, or a betting scam, But..........

Monkey boy is a manager without a club, he has links to Ewood and anything is possible.

How many Barcodes would have put money on Souness taking over at Newcastle.

Mind, Monkey goes into my 'Oh God, Please NOOOOOO!' pile, with Houllier, Venables, Hoddle (nearly threw up typing that) Gullet (!), Graham, et al.

  8. I'm with Tony and PhillipL, Thanks GS for the memories.

    But.........

Without having said anything I have been concerned with his efforts over the past 12 months and I look upon this as a good opportunity for us to get a new manager in and step up a gear.

Mark Hughes'll do for now. I'd like to see him given a go.

P.S. the barcodes are very underwhelmed with GS being given the job.

  9. IMO we need to sign a centre forward. Someone who can put themselves about a bit, run the channels and generally take the pressure off the other forward. Sadly I'm not sure we've got the funds to do it. Which is why I would never have let Cole go.

Come in James Beattie your time is up!!!! thumbs-up.gif

  10. Put me in the indifferent camp. If he stays fair enough as long as he puts in the effort every match.

If however his ego has got the better of him then the Souness has done the right thing. No point in having a disgruntled has been in the dressing room.

Thanks for the memories Andrew Cole.

    Ditto.

  11. That's just utter nonsense. Microsoft do indeed make some good programs

Micro$oft don't make any progammes at all. They steal, mimic, takeover and purloin, but have not, do not and never will actually invent anything worthwhile themselves. When will people realise that Micro$oft are not the solution, they are the problem.

As to Firefox, I have been using it on MS and Debian for ages and it is far superior to IE, both in security and speed.

It you want secure system and fast browsing, go Linux and get rid of MS crap completely.

  12. I really hope Chelski just keep going around in circles as they are now. Half the first team want to leave, manager on the edge of a cliff about to be pushed and the only players they can buy are the money hungry journey men that no-one else wants or the pretentious gits with gobs of talent but atrocious attitude, that clubs want rid of.

The Russian will get the ***** and leave when he realises he's just pouring money in week in week out for no result, or his past catches up with him and the Russian State want their money back.

Either way Chelsea are going to do a Leeds over the next couple of years. Sooner the better. Then it'll be sardine sandwiches instead of prawn and every team in the FA will be laughing at them.

You can't buy success, just ask Leeds, Newcastle or Liverpool. I just hope I see Chelsea Vs Scunthorpe United on the league fixture sheet in a few years.

PS Come back Duffer, you know you want to.

  13. Burnley v Rovers!!..bet Lancashire police are looking forward to that possibility!!!!!!! ohmy.gif

Can just imagine the scene at Lancashire Police HQ-

"big news lads...Rovers youth team are playing Burnley reserves on a training pitch at Brockhall. They're expectating two men and a dog. Cancel all holidays and grab your riot gear...we're going in...."

    Ill be there!!!

two men and a dog and a little green bird in a nappy blink.gif

  14. Aren't we lucky having a gentle soul as manager.

      :D  :D

Especially one that is so fair-minded and gracious towards the officials.

I can just see GS at the after match interview "Look, I know some may argue the ref made a mistake, but they do a hard job and he did run an awful long way down the pitch to get in a postion to see, so the poor chap may have been a bit pooped."  :D

  15. While I have no love for LUFC I hate to see any club in the position that they find themselves.  While the bone can be fairly and squarly pointed at their totally inept administration/management over the past few years the fans are going to be the ones that suffer - again.  Any fan of any team, be it Prem or conference would cry blood if this happened to their team.

The whole mess is indicative of the stupid reliance on promised funds which has taken hold of (and bitten in the arse) many clubs since the TV rights money went stellar then faded as quickly.

LUFC may be relegated; more than once over the next couple of years, or they may find a sugar daddy (in a nightie with a sore head possibly).  Whatever the final outcome the days of huge wages, expenditure and the buying of players on tick, promises or the meanderings of a ouija board have got to end.

The FA owe it to the fans of the games, of all teams, creeds or colour to stop these farsical situations from developing.

Leeds made their bed and now they are going to be forced to lie in it,  but think of the fans.  What it were us?

  16. It's interesting to note that whenever someone posts something remotely critical of the management or the team, they will almost by default be flamed or treated like a complete recluse by a certain set of members here. The rest of the boards seem to follow suit. I may not agree with rover6's post here but I am absolutely disgusted by the outright abuse he got for actually posting it. And no mods seemed to care until Tom mentioned that the language was a bit harsh.

    I have to wonder.

We can't be negative towards our club? We can't be critical? Why not? We want our club to do well but at the moment it's clearly not. Should we never ask questions about the players or the management? We've only played what..9/10 games? Now, that is to many to put this down to a bad start. And blaming "bad luck" is a very easy way out.

If freedom of speech doesn't exist here. What is the point of a messageboard at all?

I agree.  Much as I disagree with what Rover6 had to say at least he put a reasoned argument forward to support his view. Which lead to other reasoned arguments supporting GS.  A much better idea than "****off back under your rock!"
