One good thing for Rovers is the Ryan Nelsen's team, New Zealand, has already been eliminated from World Cup Qualifying.
-
There was a spell in the second half where the commentator must have said 'Nelsen wins the ball', or 'great challenge from Nelsen' or 'they couldn't get passed Nelsen' about five times in a minute..or so it seemed.
Sigh...
I'm sure gonna miss having him in D.C. United's defense next year. Glad to hear he had a good debut, though. Besides being a good defender, he's a good guy, too. Gonna miss him.

I wonder with all the Americans in the squad, will we be seeing a summer tour this coming July to the USA for Rovers?
What? Again? Bring absolute joy to my summer?
That's Nellie in the first row, far right...
I was there, I was there! Great time had by all!

I agree with Flopsy, how many troops etc has the UK and American sent over, aid doesn't just have to be about money.
Australia is doing quite a bit in this area, also.
-
A few stats from the bbc web site.

World Bank: $250m

Wait till this is all said and done, and then take a look at the true total amount of aid given, if you must make this a "I can give more than you" issue. You'll be unpleasantly surprised where the U.S. sits on that list.

As for the Americans it's good to see them stung into action following criticism by the UN.
Guess the fact that the planning for all this 'action' was occuring before the UN showed it's true face doesn't really matter, eh? The fact that if there were absolutely no comments from the UN, or anyone, that the U.S.'s contribution would have been the same as what you're seeing now, and will see? No, just another excuse (invalid excuse, at that) to do some bashing.
Not at all just relaying what the media has suggested.
The initial contribution of $35 million was pitiful cf what is spent in 15 minutes in Iraq but thats another topic.
One question..where in the world does the US' backyard begin and end?
'The Media' gave you the story they wanted to give you, not the complete story. And what does where America's 'backyard' begin and end have anything to do with helping millions of people in need? It's a shame this disaster, and the efforts to help, have been turned into a political 'discussion'.

It's really a shame that a disaster of this proportion is just another reason for people with agenda's to make their points again. Not only outside America's borders, but within it, also. As soon as the disaster happened, U.S. planning to help out started . Who ever heard the $15 million figure from the U.S. and assumed that was all that the U.S. was going to give was just looking for a reason. That was always intended as a starting point. The effort the U.S. military will give will cost probably more than most other countries combined will give. While all this planning was going on, some in the U.S. criticised the current administration for not 'getting on TV', and making a statement, etc. Lost an opportunity to do some good public relations, etc. What the hell good will good public relations do for those poor people without homes, without food, without water, without family members? The actions that were ALREADY in progress are what matters, the ONLY thing that matters.
America 'stingy'? Check out the figures in that article that American posted. Stingy? No.
You want to hate America? Go ahead. But at least use valid points to back up your hatred.

[Archived] How About A Thread On Ryan Nelsen?
in Football Messageboard Archive

Can't believe this place. 20 threads on every Tom, Dick, and Harry that has a sniff at Ewood Park, but no real thread about Ryan Nelsen!!!
You don't deserve him, if that's the respect he gets!
Actually, that's just jealousy talking, I'm gonna miss seeing him play for DC United this year, leaves a gaping hole in our defense. I'm glad for him, MOM today, captains armband, seems he's doing quite well, eh?
