  1. I was listening to the Annie Mac show on Radio 1 earlier, she was saying about Ian Wright leaving MOTD, because it's become "dry" and she agreed and said there should be a seperate "highlights" show, but with laughter.

She said Russell Brand is a massive footie fan and even writes a column in the Guardian and she thinks he'd be a great choice of pundit to have on the show.

Maybe someone like Colin Murray being the host? he does a decent job on Ch5.

Someone suggested a show hosted by Alan Carr & the pundit being his dad (an ex-footie manager) and calling it Football Night Project

I'd love to see a show that talks footie, has no bias and takes the p*ss a bit... especially if the show mocks losers like Jamie Redknapp & Garth Crooks. I could imagine Russell Brand coming out with some corkers about those 2 alone.

  2. Today's Daily Mail states that McCarthy has turned down a new deal at Ewood to try and secure Champions League football in the knowledge there is a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for 5m next summer!! :o

(If I recall Mark Hughes precise words he did say there were no clauses "this year") It would also explain Benni's constant references to it not being his decision and being in the club's hands. He might even have been trying to do us a favour by touting himself around this summer!

If it's true, following the Bellamy situation, when will we ever learn??

It does though put a whole new context on the situation if a big enough bid were to come in for Benni now doesn't it?

I mean 15m for Benni now, or 5m in 12 months?

If you were Sparky and knew the full amount will be available to spend on the team it's a no brainer really. If prices continue to go up, in 12 months time 5m won't buy the bootlace of a decent striker.

    Linkage?

  3. So, my best guess is:

    - money will be spent in January. The Walker Trust knows what Jack's will tells them and they will feel as obliged to ensure Prem survival now as they ever have done with the bonanza coming next year.

    - we might well be disappointed in who we get. There will be masses of money chasing not many players this January.

    - we won't miss Neill very much when he leaves

    - we will get at least two out of Nelsen, Reid and Roberts playing very close to their best by end February and that will make all the difference be it a push for Europe or an escape from the bottom.

As for the UEFA, if we beat Nancy we have to hope we are not unlucky in the draw on 15 December. If we don't beat Nancy we have to hope we get lucky on 15 December.

I think a Boro-last season- type prospect is before us. Defeat in the late stages of the UEFA and a thoroughly dispiriting but not particularly life threatening Prem campaign.

    What bonanza?

As for players that would leave if we were relegated... I think you're wrong... Brad would take a pay cut to stay with us... as would Sav & Tugay...

Where-as I think even Mokoena would want to leave, because he goes on about how great it is to get the chance to play in the prem...

I even think Peter would leave... he's a bit big-headed to be honest, he'd believe he's too much of a star not to be playing in the prem...

  4. I never meant I want us to be like Chelsea! I meant I'd like to see a bit of money injected into the club, so we can compete to buy the odd gem.

Like, Bellamy was a gem for us, but if it wasn't for his behaviour/attitude e.t.c. we'd have never have got him at that price, therefore we'd never have got the gem.

  5. If we ended up with someone else taking over the club, I don't think it'd be a bad thing, as we could be the fans, that in the future would be able to remember the good ol'days of Uncle Jack. I think a takeover would stop us looking like a club that in the future will start to decay because of no money. I'd prefare it to be someone who supports the club, but either way, a takeover would bring back excitement to Ewood Park and the fans with it!

Just look at Portsmouth! no-one gave a crap about them before, now everyone is talking about them being an exciting club and their fans are buzzing off this.

If you think it wouldn't bring excitement... don't you think it'd be exciting to see us attracting/being able to afford players such as; Wayne Bridge, Jermaine Defoe, SW-Phillips e.t.c. rather than being a club that has to let it's players go due to clauses in contracts and practically begs a want-away aussie to stay?
