  1. Just looked at the stats and amazed forest had 22 shots. We played them off the park and I thought 4-0 would not have flattered us.

In the first 20 mins Travis was instrumental in us winning the right to play. He has a determination and an energy to be the first to everything allowing the rest of the team to pick up scraps and play around the opposition.

Graham was immense again. He's only wiry but very strong and clever in setting runners through into space.

Rothwell scored a great goal and continued to work hard for the whole game but I do think his first touch is a little too heavy. Maybe it's because he's so positive and is always going forward.  Sounds too critical?

Adam Armstrong was standout in the second half. Relieved pressure. Consistently took on and beat his man. Could go either way and always seemed to have an end product.

At the back Williams, Lenihan and Bennett were mostly excellent.

I'm not going to say anything about the mistakes which kept Forest in the game.

    Raya 4

    Bennett 7

    Bell 5

    Lenihan 7

    Williams 7

    Evans 7

    Travis 7

    Rothwell 8

    Armstrong 8

    Graham 7

    Dack 6

Point was more about Brereton, Forest fans said hes shite as a winger so we should play him central or not at all. We paid 6m for a striker so I want him to play his natural position. If hes been brought in to play wide we should have bought a winger.

I assume we are paying Breretons wages whilst he's on loan and we've agreed a future fee of 6m with Forest and personal terms with the lad. I don't think the fee has been paid, its just an option. Either Rovers or Brereton can cancel if it doesn't work out.

I think TM is looking for him to learn from DG and become his long term replacement.

Agree that it would seem more logical to play up top though he may get more game time if he can learn to play wide in 4-2-3-1

Very poor performance, especially the first 60 minutes. Wave after wave of attack, we stole a point which is a bonus.

The lack of control in central midfield was startling and it needs changing in there. Smallwood is no more than a squad player for me and if we have signed 3 central midfielders and none can threaten his place, we have a problem. Evans has dipped slightly but was better than Smallwood for me. When we are under the cosh we seem unable to get our foot on it and manage the game.

Mowbray got his team selection and tactics totally wrong, theres no dressing that up. He shouldnt have picked Conway but I was at least impressed that he realised that and didnt wait to change it.

Raya was at times embarrassing. Some of his handling, decision making and kicking would have been hilarious had I not been a Rovers fan.

Graham my man of the match, he has to start every game he is fit at the moment. Some terrific hold up and should have an assist but from a rare sitter by Dack.

Armstrong doesnt look like a Championship striker by any means. Dack was not in the game at all, and Palmer likewise.

Nyambe was decent, but offered nothing again going forward. Bell was as shaky as anyone up until the last half hour when he was much improved. Williams was fine, Lenihan is really poor on the ball but you cant fault his committment.

Mulgrew, Reed, Rothwell, Bennett and Graham should come in for Bell, Smallwood, Palmer, Conway and Armstrong I think at Stoke.

Derby were poor too, they ran out of ideas and a better side would have scored a hatful tonight.

    Pretty fair summary I thought.

Smallwood is good off the ball and keeps his defensive shape but whenever his zone is threatened can't impact the play. We are crying out for a midfielder with composure on the ball. It could become Reid.

TM started fast buzzy lads up front to stop Derby playing out from the back but we couldn't squeeze them as it came into midfield. Class bit of management to realise we couldn't hold up the ball and bring Graham on so soon. He was MOTM for me. Battled for everything and won most things. Set up Dack- how the hell did he miss?

Nyambe also v strong. Raya made good saves at key moments.

    Stone wall Armstrong penalty.

    Bossed the last 20 mins.

  4. I thought Peter Whittingham was a great signing.

We'd just been relegated and 12 players left the club. PW signing was a statement of intent that encouraged more to come and some to stay.

TM had to assemble a squad quickly and because he could, it didn't matter that PW's contribution was below expectation.

Pederson's balls should have been put in a microwave for missing that far post header at Old Trafford - otherwise Rovers probably would have been there......

    Aaah don't remind me

    about the Ballacks

They were pretty much guaranteed a play off spot anyway. You see it a lot that the teams who do well in the play offs year after year aren't the ones who've been in there all season it's the ones who go into them in the best end of season form which is why I fancy Fulham this season. Huddersfield will be wanting to win there last two going into the play offs, so I don't think the view that with a play off place tied up they won't be up for it at St Andrews on Saturday. It will be a tough game for Birmingham, I'm a lot more worried about us beating Villa than I am Huddersfield letting us down at Birmingham.

Late run to the playoffs having upper hand is Urban myth

Team that finished 3 rd have gone up more than any other position

  7. Whatever happened to Duff ? I was shocked when Chelsea sold him to Newcastle. I thought he was great in their first title season and okay he had a couple of injuries but was still reportedly one of Abramovich's favourite players. I haven't seen him play since he moved to the Toon. Is he injured again ? If he doesn't fit into Allardyce's plans he must be worth a punt at 2.5m in January - Hughes would get him fit, he'd push pedersen for a place and would play for the team.

A lot also gets made of how Pedersen is supposedly right footed but taught himself to play with his left - surely he could therefore provide cover for Bentley as well ?
