Heard an interesting stat tonight which, if true, is amazing when considering who was in charge for most of 2016/17.The last time Rovers lost after leading at half time was in 2015

Yes Brentford at home March 2015. Lost 3-2 after being 2-1 up at HT. Also happened month before at home to Norwich but not happened since!

i watched the first game via stream on Fox as I couldnt bare to see Murphy, I know exactly what you are saying. That Ally Wagner knows her stuff but to me it is typical Americanized over analytical stuff that casual watchers surely will not understand. Lalas is a plonker and for the first game Ian Wright was on there and to me was not really himself and just towed the line.

As for the part on the game tonight, completely agree. Was so hypocritical after some of the shenanigans that the Panamanians were doing to then act so pathetically when a player of ours would knock a ball away a few feet when they had a throw in or free kick - tame stuff compared to them but they would shove our players and act like we were the cheats. That CB (Gomez?) he was the worst of the lot - a complete thug. Always bringing players down, punching Kane in the head after already wrestling him to the ground and generally just being a complete prick.

Watching Fox while on hols in Florida - painful!

‘Roster’ ..... ‘locker room’ ..... ‘defense’ ...... ‘offense’  ..... oh dear me! Started watching the Spanish channel just so I don’t have to listen.

Mowbray has done all his research on different transfer lists/targets. So he prepare for all situations. He has gone into finer detail of players. He is top man and good manager. We are very lucky to have him in charge here. Also expecting him to have a new contract sorted aswell. I would give him a new 3 year contract

Agreed on TM contract. The only slight doubt is IF he is given a bigger transfer budget can he spend it as well as when he had less money last year - I hope so.

  4. Very sad news. Howard Kendall was a man with honour who gave the club back some respectability. The promotion season when we came back up from the old third division was probably one of my favourite seasons ever. Duncan McKenzie, Andy Crawford, Micky Sleight...and Howard played himself and was still class. Chesterfield away on the train and of course, Gigg Lane. Happy days.

    Thoughts with Howard's family RIP

  5. too early to predict at the moment, i'll wait to see the late transfer dealings

Agreed but can't hold out any longer:-

    1. Chelsea

    2. United

    3. Arsenal

    4. Liverpool

    5. Spurs

    6. Newcastle

    7. West Ham

Also, I didn't go to the game so maybe Reid was a numpty all game! Was he?

    362214

I did go and he was.

To be fair to Reidy he was playing in a role that doesn't suit him and he couldn't be faulted for his effort - he gave 100%.

With a bit more ambition (oh for a fit Matt Jansen of 2002), we could have won it. Their central defence was ok but the midfield was ours.

    A point was ok.

  7. With a 442 im predicting 4-1 to us. If he goes back to 451 it will be 0-0 (again)

My main hope is that Rovers will win by two clear goals - any stattos out there tell me the last time we won in the premiership with a bit of daylight? Come on dust off those history books!

    349652

    Southampton Home 9/4/05 Won 3-0

    Fulham Away 27/11/04 Won 2-0

    Not much daylight admittedly!

  8. Why doesn't someone simply set up a league table of average gates for the season? This would be much easier to compare to clubs that we could and possibly should be matching. However, it's very hard to get away from the fact that Blackburn is a much smaller place than even the likes of Bolton, Middlesbrough, Fulham, Sunderland, West Brom etc.

IHB try this for size - it saves all the adding up!

  10. Just sent mine to the Observer:-

    "Dear Sir

It is not customary for me to feel so strongly after reading a newspaper article that I should want to respond. However, having read the various reports concerning Saturday’s FA Cup Semi Final, between Blackburn Rovers and Arsenal, I feel I must challenge a number of comments made in your newspaper.

In an effort to set the record straight, I would make the following points :-

    • Blackburn Rovers are clearly not a big city club. In fact, Blackburn is probably the smallest town in England lucky enough to have a Premiership football team. Your journalists appear to have contracted a disease called ‘big-club-itus’ which is so easy to catch from others. They should be careful in their comments regarding Blackburn whilst considering the town has a population of just over 100,000.

    • The fact that the FA, for reasons best known to themselves, decided to play a game over 200 miles from Blackburn with a 12.15 kick-off time is a matter for them. The fact that almost 20% of the population of Blackburn set off at 5am to make the game, and paid up to £45 (yes, David Davies, £45!) for the privilege, is no small matter. If Manchester United had managed the same 20% then over 300,000 would have turned up in red shirts on Sunday.

    • Mark Hughes deserves much credit for steering a side to a Cup Semi-Final within months of his arrival. Blackburn are obviously a side in transition and their manger will bring in new faces, particularly strikers, in the Summer. He has not yet had the luxury of the time or money that Mr Wenger has enjoyed.

    • Blackburn Rovers have won the Cup six times. They have appeared in eighteen semi-finals (only seven other teams have appeared in more). Blackburn won the Worthington Cup only three years ago. They are one of only three teams to win the Premier League. They appear well up in all time Premier League rankings. They are one of the form League teams since Christmas. Credit where credit’s due, this is a team that over delivers and their achievements should not be belittled.

    • With regard to the game. Please be reminded that for all supporters outside the M25, Arsenal are regarded as a team not afraid of falling to ground to win free kicks. This may come as a shock to your London based correspondents, but it is the truth. In some football supporters eyes this is regarded as cheating, just the same as late or strong challenges.

    • Were it not for an incorrect off-side decision, Blackburn may have taken the lead in a game more even than you suggest, particularly in the first half.

    • As you point out, in the game Blackburn received six yellow cards to Arsenal’s three. Clearly, Steve Dunn (a referee of some experience) holds the view that strong challenges should still be part of the modern game. Mark Hughes confirmed his team were asked to compete but not to use rough tactics – I believe he is an honest man.

    • The influx of foreign players over the last ten years (particularly to bigger clubs) should not confuse people into thinking football has become a non-contact sport, whatever those players may think. Blackburn field a side dotted with British players and I believe this gives then a competitive advantage in many respects.

    • I confirm that as a Rovers fan of over 35 years standing I have a bias towards Blackburn Rovers – the difference is at least I am honest enough to admit it. I would only ask that your sports journalists adopt impartiality in their reporting in future.

    Regards"
