  1. If they do go bust or are forced to sell who whould you like to see at the Rovers..

    Personally..

Id like Smith, Johnson and Matteo..  :p

The vultures are certainly on the horizon. If they do go into administration, then the they will not be able to refuse any bid for any player.

Smith, Viduka, Robinson, Matteo, Bakke and Johnson could all be on their way in January. Grim if you're a Leeds fan. Excellent if you are another Prem club wanting talent on the cheap.

  2. - Well done England. I just wish the media could leave it at that. BUt no, they have to start calling for Woodward to be knighted - a ridiculous thought considering the paucity of competition throughout the world. And, besides, people should IMO be honoured AFTER they've retired.

    I couldn't disagree more.

World rugby admittedly lacks depth but four different countries (NZ, Australia, South Africa and England) have won the trophy in the five tournaments since the World Cup started in 1987. By comparison only seven countries have won the football World Cup since Uruguay in 1934. Brazil and Germany's dominance has been equivalent to the two-horse race that the Premiership has become.

As for honours, Alex Ferguson got knighted for ManU winning the European Cup, so I don't see why Clive Woodward shouldn't get a gong for winning the World Cup. As for Sir Jonny, that is just tabloid hype. However, all the players and squad should get an MBE/OBE/CBE in the New Year's honour's list.

  3. Like it or not, and regardless of the chain of events immediately prior to their departure, losing David Dunn and Damien Duff is proving costly.

Agreed - except what choice did we have in their transfers? Dunn had refused to sign a new contract and was generally being a sulky sod. As for Duff, he went when a £17m trigger in his contract was activated and an £18.5 million had been waved in front of him.

So the question is not whether we should have sold these two players, but whether we have brought in enough quality to replace them. At the moment the answer seems not, although I believe it is only a matter of time before they turn it round.

  4. We need continuity - even if we were relegated I don't think it would be a good idea to sack Souey (for example, Charlton did not get rid of Curbishley when they went down).

We are also not far off winning a game - we outplayed Glenclerbigli and Charlton and with a little tinkering (tell Emerton and Thommo to play on the wings) then we'll get a result.

And just to remined everyone, when we were relegated a few season ago, we had a bad run of form under Hodgson (partly because of injuries) and he was sacked in October. We had no replacement manager lined up and things got even worse under Brian Kidd's unproven (and crap) management. So unless we've got Sven-Goran Eriksson lined up as a replacement, Souey should stay in charge.

    COME ON ROVERS!
