Thats just a myth which is sadly nothing but tosh.
Berg, Le Saux, May, Sherwood are all other examples and there are plenty more.

As long as i never round up another cow, i will die a happy man!
The ending left me gutted though .
And no be honest, ive got ever achievement (single player wise) bar 3, which i cant be arsed to do atm, so it needs a wee break for abit.

Rather than base how good a player is on opinion i will base it on fact. Di Santo scores very little and creates very little.
-
"EDIT: Oh, and Kalinic looks bloody good. Have you not been watching him?! "
I didn't say that, is he or is he not a gamble? 6million we spent on him, he needs to start proving his worth (which he has in recent weeks).
"Di santo may be a flop but he is only 20 and leading the line is a tough job,he has pace, skill, awareness and is good in the air with the right coaching he will come good. To right him off already is tripe and comparing him to dickov and kuqi is daft."
He has done that good a job he is now slowly dropping down the starting order line? And yes it is daft to compare him to Kuqi and Dickov, they both got double figures while they were here.
Change Di Santo's name to Ben Smith and we signed him from Swindon and all this 'he will come good' stuff wouldn't exist. People are living on hype built up by nicko's opinion when we signed him, the fact he plays for chelsea and because he has a nice foreign name.

Again based on what? His amazing goal scoring record? His amazing assists tally?
He has a half decent first touch and runs around alot, and thats about it. He has never been a decent goal scorer (just look at his returns for past clubs). We alreadly have one massive gamble on the go with Kalanic, to spunk another 5million up the wall on someone like Di Santo.
Di Santo has 15 starts, 3 sub appearances and has 1 goal to his name. Im sorry but that is a joke for someone who calls themself a premiership striker. Even tripe like Dickov and Kuqi scored ALOT more than that.
And on Pongolle no i wouldn't, 5 starts and 8 sub appearances and only has 1 goal to show for it.
-
If we can get anything like £1.5m+ for him, then we should look to sell and put it towards either bringing in Di Santo on a permanent basis
Sell benni to fund a move for di santo who can't score for ###### but runs about alot...good call

Benni played as a poacher in his first season, hence him being in more goal scoring positions.
Since he has been played 'in the hole' as a more creative link up player.
But no matter how well he plays or what he does people will ignore his quality cos he is carrying a few extra pounds.

Benni McCarthy has been rubbish since his second season in England.
He's going through the same cycle MGP went through. I always slated MGP for his lack of contribution aside from his stunning goals, which were always going to dry up. For years I was constantly ridiculed/told I was this and that because people let him live of his first season for about 3/4 seasons.
McCarthy is a bad player now. Yes he has good control/skill levels, but he is fat, slow, not particularly strong and doesn't score even nearly the amount of goals he used to.
Andy Cole was far better at his age, and McCarthy is no better than Yorke was at 32. People hated Yorke, but he was never big and fat was he.
I have no idea where all the love for him comes from, maybe it's his past pedigree, which i find peculiar as his footballing epitaph will read 'UNDERACHIEVER DUE TO S*** ATTITUDE.'
If Allardyce gets £3m for McCarthy, it's up there with him getting £17m for Santa Cruz.
You do know he hasnt scored as many because Hughes and now BFS are playing him 'in the hole' behind the main striker taking him out of the peno area, where benni is most effective...
-
Benni is overweight and unfit and has been since the beginning of last season. All players rely on their fitness. If he was fitter he would be able to run faster and for longer and would be a more effective player. He hasn't spent his whole career ambling around at walking pace, he used to be pretty quick.
Again, body mass and fitness are 2 different things. Benni has never relied on speed or stamina. And from what ive watched these past few games now he is getting his match fitness back he is looking sharper every week.
-
Interesting how people think body mass and fitness are the same thing, they aint.
Interesting how people think Benni seems to rely on his fitness as a footballer, he doesn't.
-
Yes but does he score goals when he plays?

Ah right lets pick out 3 performances (2 of which were against dire just promoted sides) and brush off the rest of the games we have played?
Please explain how 4-4-1-1 can be positive? At all
Please tell me who this target man is who fits into this role?
Please tell me why we are in the relegation places with one of the worst away records in the country and also one of the most shocking goal differences in the league.
Yes clearly 4-5-1/4-4-1-1 is working a treat.

You on about the games against Burnley, Villa and Wolves? Wolves and Burnley with there fantastic squads and great away form and for a hour a dire performance against villa which changed when we had a man sent off .
4-5-1/4-4-1-1 or whatever it is/ment to be doesn't work because we dont have the players to make it work.

I think the only team that plays with an attacking midfielder behind a front two is Chelsea, and that's because they've got the best selection of central midfielders to choose from to protect behind.
Other Premier League teams don't play that way, we'd get absolutely murdered doing it.
We have been bummed dry playing the ultra defencive 4-5-1 ###### tho?
-
Or sam is maybe trying to fit players into his 'system' not find a system for his players?
Why can't we 'try' a spurs sort of formation when they had modric wide left but basically cutting inside to be just behind the main strikers.
This 4-5-1 'target man' crap must be the most depressing thing to happen to this club in a while. Funny thing is tho we actulay have some good football players, which is totally bypassed by the route one hoofball we play.
For benni's sake i hope he gets a move to play in the world cup, cos while BFS is here we shall only be looking to play some sort of Davies clone uptop.
Bad times...
-
Can i also add
BFS spent ALL summer looking for a striker, totally overlooked every other position and how weak we were all over the pitch (bar right back, he loves us wasting what little wage budget we have on right backs). And now it gets to Jan and the only striker at the club Sam is quite keen on is Di Santo, who is a loanee and back down south come january.
And now because he only wants to play his negative anti football crap we play with one striker so dunn can play off him and carry the whole team. 3.5million for a striker who has consistantly scored goals in this league.... about as much of a farce as Julie playing week in week out and Sam thinking he can be the next United manager...
Beggers belief it really is... Im sure half the people who post on here could be doing a better job at this moment in time.

What absolute utter ######.
Please find me a striker for less than 10million who has consistantly scored 10goals plus each season in the premiership since he has been here. Add to that being in and out of the team at times due to tactics and managerial nightmares.
A luxery? What a striker who can score goals? Give me a freakin break.
If BFS flogs Benni because he doesn't fit into his 'tactics' (i use that term very loosely as i could have chose 11 players and told them to loose the past 3 away games), then we deserve all we get.

It is quite clear that Big Sam has no intention in playing him so we may as well get him of the wage bill.
Id rather see BFS off the wage bill if he continues to ignore the bloody obvious.

Forgive me for going a bit Daily Express on everyone, but I do object to all those hooligan books and films that have been around the last couple of years. They do often glamourise this kind of frankly childish and cowardly behaviour, and make it appealing to the postuering, swaggering chavvy nobheads. It's like that stupid Sky Show 'Britain's Hardest' a few years ago, but without the unintentional comedy of seeing Steve McFadden doing his Phil Mitchell act.
People who go looking for trouble meet other people looking for trouble, very rarely you get innocent people in these scuffles. Anyway if you start banning things that glamourise certain aspects of society there wouldnt be hardly anything on tele and hardly any films. get a grip.
