If it's that easy to replace Raya for less than 3m why haven't Brentford signed someone else?

They believe they are getting a young lad with the potential to improve and increase in value..

We've been down this road with Cairney, sold him relatively cheap and he went on to become a 20-30m footballer..

Cairney is not a 20m player due to that fact that no one has paid that for him and thus until he is sold again he is only worth what Fulham paid for him.  Yes we messed up but if he is sold I am sure we will have a sell on clause so we should want them to do well as the fee we then received increases substantially.

Raya is going and the better he does the more money we get.  Not many of the players we have sold in the last 15 years have gone on to do that much better.

I agree, but think nobody on here has mentioned left back. Bell has improved as the season has gone on but he doesn't fully convince. We also have no real backup as i'd rather play a training cone at left back than Williams.

Personally we could sort out our problems if we played 3 at the back then you could have Bell and Bennett as wing backs and they don't need to do as much defending.  They both have the energy for that role.

You could have Lenihan Mulgrew Hanley as back but I still worry about Mulgrew and if he would just cause havoc in that.  TM has tried a few time in pre season to play 3 at the back and I think it is what he would like to do long term.

The other issue is we would need a lot more cover for 3 CB and therefore  don't think we will do that.

What is mad is chasing a player for 12 months but not having the courage of your convictions to clinch the deal. If you're after a player, make sure it's someone you really want and have confidence in your judgement and be prepared to pay what is necessary to get the deal over the line.

Don't fanny about half heartedly for 12 months fluttering your eyelashes at a player you don't really want simply because there's a slight chance you might land him on the cheap.

Or you tell him the truth that he might not start and then you don't have a player having expectation of starting every week.  Just like in every job people move, get sold the earth and then become annoyed at what was promised.

Personally he has little Championship experience and was demanding a lot of money so I think it is important to know when to say no thank you!

Downing cannot start central midfield. It just cant happen, it's more important to be mobile than a good player playing CM in this league. Play Davenport and Travis or sign someone better.

In other news, I've just driven past Rios in Whalley, who have a "WELCOME HOME GRANT" banner outside.

He played most of his 38 appearances for Boro as CM player last year.  I feel like people forget about Tugay and how mobile was he ?

I am very happy with the signing just hope he isn't a flop like Peter Whittingham

    Chapman being mentioned about?

Who's the loan we missed out on?

    Cheers mate always spot on.

No idea on Chapman, personally would have thought they might just leave that till summer.

I think it was this lad https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/11593327/sheffield-united-sign-kieran-dowell-from-everton-on-loan

I suppose he wants to be in a team at the top of the league and they do play the young lads at Sheffield. Some of the loans we had didn't get played much like Harper as an example.

  6. We are trying to sign Reed but a lot of other clubs are going to be trying to sign him to.

Deal to be done with Southampton.

We want a striker and a rb no names as yet.

Missed out on a loan sign as Sheffield Utd got him instead.

Will be looking at mostly loans but if deals become available the venkys will consider it. Being closer to the play offs come end of January might allow for more cash to be spent.

Dack has a value that if not ment then no deal to be done. Venkys want to keep him until the summer at then maybe take the cash to reinvest throughout the squad.

Will inform more when I know it.

This is rather contradictory to what Rich Sharpe has just tweeted.

I’d have no issue if you had said that you had heard he was on the verge of signing. I encourage transfer rumour and gossip on here as it adds to the fun.

However you stated it as FACT that he signed last night and it was to be announced this morning???

As a result I told numerous people last night and I look a bit of a?end now!

So fee might have been slightly out and not fully offical but can I have an a small you were right and I no longer look a ?end
