  1. el tombre, dont like downloading games onto my laptop, dont want the harddrive to scew up, just paid £1000 for this laptop, want to keep it running smooth.

Think ET means download off xbox store (or whatever it is called) rather than to the laptop.

Besides it would take a hardware fail for the hd to stop working as virus can always be removed

  2. Your not going to get much of a story on a racing sim. Visuals are a massive part of what makes modern racing games, I.e Weather effects, lighting, tyre wear etc

Thats where gameplay goes in. You can have a games that really is visually pleasing but very poor in the gameplay (need for speed, where all cars handle the exact same more or less, for example)

There are exceptions, such as Gran Turismo 5, looks great and has enough replayability for most

  3. It's probably something to do with their bullying tactics to stop developers putting otherOs back onto the device they bought in the first place. Not sure they have taken credit this time or not but certainly a couple of weeks ago there was a sustained DDOS attack against PSN by a group called Anonymous.

Did anyone also read the the updated terms and conditions when signing into PSN after the 3.56 firmware update? Sony basically included a load of terms that says they can effectively look at ANYTHING on the PS3 hard drive and they were allowed to retrieve and store that data.

How many people actaully read T&C's? I know I don't, actully I don't know anyone that does..

From many of the rumors flying around, it seems it's not Anon but more of a sub group that have branched off and Sony are currently rebuilding some software (firewall type thing) to protect themselves.

To be fair I see no problem with being able to make homebrews and play them, the problem comes when it gets used for pirated games. Im sure if it was possible to enable homebrews and prevent pirated games Sony will implement it.

  4. I have heard a lot of bad things about it, such as gameplay etc and havent played a SOCOM since SOCOM2

It have moved quite a bit from its roots. A touch more run and gun, Shoulder cam (that sucks) the camrea isn't all that great. however IMO it is still very playable and enjoyable.

That being said, many people hated Confrontation, yet I loved it. Racked up over 2000 games before my play time on it decreased

  5. I have no problem with pay a subscription for a game as long as the game is free and the game actually changes with each season and does not become a squad update. Currently I have to xbox's in my apartment 1 for legal games and one for Thai versions that cost 80 Baht, £1.17, $2.65 or €1.86. Currently I have Mass Effect 2 and Bad Company 2 in real games and the rest at Thai versions. Mass Effect 1 and 2 were so good it was unfair not to buy them. Bad Company 2 is the best online FPS on the 360 again totally unfair not to buy them. I have nearly all the EA Sports games in Thai version and to be 100% honest there is not enough change each season to warrant buying them.

I am also a massive fan of Football Manager and again I buy that game it's brilliant and I spend so much time playing FM its just not fair if I don't buy the game. But again the changes from year to year are very small. One of the guys on FM forums has the perfect solution for this. You release a new version of the game ever 2 years and you give away a free roster update with the game.

As an example you buy Fifa 12 and you get the changes to the teams squads free for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. There are 2 benefits to this idea, 1 it completely removes the idea that games are just squad updates. 2 It give EA 2 years to work on a game so they can really make some changes. I am fully aware that games are so advanced now that its difficult to see what they can add to make FIFA or Madden completely different ever 2 years. But its better than the current 1 year release calendar we have.

EA have a plan for fifa, last time around they completely revamped the career mode. It does have faults so 12 should iorn most of those out and make improvements. Add in Clubs and EA have vastly changed fifa over the last few years.

PES on the otherhand still cant be bothered to pay for the rights to use team names

  6. In that case Rochina should have been attacking ;) He did a few fancy tricks but seriously I don't think he created one chance or had a shot.

Saying that he was probably our best player, says it all really.

That was down to the usless players we had on the pitch. I literally lost count of the amount of times Rochina played a pass and made a run into enough space to build shopping centre on , only for Emerton, Cruz, Jones or Dunn to screw it up and play the ball backwards.

If those players mentioned had attempted to play the one two Rochina clearly had in mind, it could very well of been a different match.

Rochina has some excelent close ball control and I feel he can be a huge player in the PL with the right players around him.

  7. The main difference is you can play the masters, I loved that as I am not sure that had been done before. But it's basically the same game as last year with a few improvements. But then again I did buy a Thai version of this so even it was rubbish I would have not been worried about the cost.

That is 100% correct and to be honest I can understand why the did that but to release a game with Augusta National Golf Club, Royal Melbourne Golf Club (Australia), Atlanta Athletic Club, TPC San Antonio, St Andrews Links and Pebble Beach Golf Links and then say you can buy extra courses for £5 is a joke

Oh and one of the other big features this year is 3D grass

6 Courses on a full game? thats really poor on EA's part. Its like releasing fifa with Town Park stadium then saying you have to pay for the rest (though I would certainly buy Ewood Park if it was available)

  8. 100% correct for the parts they ripped out of the game.

There is a massive fuss about it on the EA Forums. Hopefully it will be the last time EA Sports do this but I doubt it.

I think most PS3 and 360 owners are waiting for this. It should the first blockbuster of the year. I will wait will for the reviews before I decide to buy it or pick up a Thai version

It was EA that started the whole code to play online. If you dont have the code you have to pay £10 to get one.. Idea is so they can cash in on the pre owned market I think

  9. I also play GK and disagree. With amatuers I will agree you can look out for 'signs', usually as simple as the arc of their run but none of tht works against better people, let alone top professionals. Basic stats will show that pro goal keepers do not go the right way 99% of the time as you suggest so why you think at the top level goal keepers would bother looking out for 'signs' I don't know; and every single pro goalie I have ever heard give tips on pens has said 'pick a side a stick with it'. If a pro keeper does look out for anything, it will be if the taker is nervous and nowadays they'll research pre-game, studying a pen taker's habbits rather than waiting to see "which direction their hips are facing" during the actual pen.

Watch this, which illustrates my point of randomness quite well...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9-8UsJ-cpc

I paused it a split second before each pen and guessed the direction based on their run up...

    1) Tevez - Skips round to give a wide angled run, indicates a shot to keeper's left. Result, he does shoot that way but Cech goes the wrong way (so thereby he must disagree with your theory as he went the opposite way to what the 'signs' suggested)

    2) Ballack - Straightish run and short suggests to me hitting it to the keeper's right. Result, he kicks it the other way, with VDS going the same way, showing that this time the 'signs' were wrong/unreliable.

    3) Carrick - Similar to Ballack but the wider angle and longer run suggested to me a strike to the keeper's left. Result, hits it to the keeper's right and sends Cech the wrong way so this time Cech followed the 'signs' rule but got it wrong thus disproving it's effectiveness.

    4) Balleti - Wide, longish run and open body heavily suggest a strike to the keeper's left. Result, he does go left but top keeper ignores all the signs again showing you at that level relying on 'signs' isn't used.

    5) Ronaldo - All the fancy tricks left me stumped I'll be honest but he misses which only reenforces my argument that trying tricks when taking pens isn't neccessary.

    6) Lampard - Run and open body suggested strike to keeper's left. Result, did go left and VDS went that way too which is good for you. Although even though VDS did read the 'signs' in this case it still didn't help him.

    7) Hargreaves - Run suggests to the keeper's left, body stance suggests right. Result, goes right, keeper goes right way but smashed into top corner.

    8) A.Cole - wide run up and stance suggests a shot to the keeper's right. Result, it goes left and so does the keeper which is bad news for you :)

    9) Nani - Short run and stance suggested to me a shot to the keeper's right. Result, it goes that way and so does Cech so one back for your theory.

    10) Terry, well stance suggested it would go 5 miles wide so he did very well to hit the post! :D

And on your last point, I actually hold the opposite opinion. If in doubt, I would dive to my left to a right footed player as it is easier for a right footed player to side foot it to his right/the keeper's left than it is to either lace it or sidefoot drag it into the other corner.

Keepers are sent the wrong way all the time by bog standard run ups/strikes and I maintain my point that taking a pen in the manner the young Spanish guy did in the vid would make no difference to the probability of which way the keeper dives.

Okay ill admit I was wrong on my last point, I got my directions messed up!

that being said, I presume you try to read a penalty via the players run? as that's how you have gone through all those penalties. that's no problem if it works for you, however as I said in my last post I try to read the players hips and plant foot as he is taking the shot, okay it isn't fool proof and doesn't give you as much time to react but it works. watch another video only this time when you pause it look at the players hips and plant foot and guess the direction. I managed to get it right on all bar 7/10 of those pens.

and as I'm sure you are well aware every keeper has their own preference, I was wrong with my last comment because of this. but the best penalty stoppers in the world will use some sort of method to read the player, rather than guessing. and I'm sure that unless 100% necessary a professional keeper doesn't guess..
