Reeds position is a dcm, he certainly isnt a right sided midfielder. No matter what the manager just seems to want to play players on the wing, who aren't wingers, samuel, armstrong, Reed, brereton, antonson etc. Bennett works hard, very energetic, but creates next to nothing most games playing on the wing. Everything we do goes through the middle, if we had two natural wingers who were able to run with and cross the ball then we might be able to stop worrying about the opposition so much. Basically yesterday we had 4 defenders, and then two defensive wingers on the pitch as well as two playing in cdm. So 8 of the 10 outfield players were defensive minded players, granted evans and Reed got further forward occasionally.

I agree Reed isn't a RM but I don't understand the obsession with wingers. Which team plays with wingers these days? it's not 1995 you know.

TM sets us up quite narrow and compact and overall I'd say we were the better team against a Forest side who've spent big money.

The modern way seems to be fullbacks bombing forward and that's what we should be doing.

  2. If we had 2 decent centre halves we would have won that game. We really missed Mulgrew to calm the back four and also his distribution. Downing is a solid league one player but not good enough at this level.

I thought the ref was very poor and it was ages before he booked their no6 for constantly fouling Dack. Also, it didn’t look like a corner for their 1st pen and the second pen was a dive.

    Plus points;

Armstrong did well when he came on and Rodwell looked ok (better than downing!). Evans and Smallwood looked good. Graham was class all game! We’ve got the makings of a decent side. I also had both teams to score :O

Chelsea really do destroy the careers of a lot of 'initially' highly-rated players. I guess a lot of these kids go in thinking they are going to be the next best thing, get given a nice contract for their age and over the years the realization sets in that they probably wont make it at Chelsea but are more than happy to just get farmed around while taking in a nice wedge.

Thats why I like Davenport, he is one that decided not to settle for that and wants to go out and try to further his career.

A lot of those kids would do better at places like our academy, where they have quality coaching, facilities and the real opportunity of progressing to the first team. They're less likely to get loaned out all over the place for years on end as well. The big move to a top flight club will come if they're good enough.

Good first day for England considering they lost their best two batsmen cheaply.

I think the Aussies may have the mix wrong, 3 pace bowlers and 1 spinner is light on that wicket, although these things change.

350-400 would be a good score, more than that will take some getting for the Aussies. I think it's realistic if we can get through the first hour or so unscathed.

300+ would be a good score after losing early wickets. Wicket normally hardens up but it's given rain for Saturday and Sunday :o

    Brilliant tonight. Really enjoyable evening.

4-0 in the end and a missed penalty right at the end.

    - Callum Wright with a screamer into the top corner

    - A brave Nuttall finish which resulted in him being withdrawn (precautionary I heard in the stand)

    - Lovely flicked finish on the end of a right wing cross from Rankin-Costello

    - Well taken goal from Wright to wrap up the goals

    - Should have been 5-0 with the penalty miss at the end, from R-C I think.

Time for some of these lads to be in and around the first team. Stefan Mols looked excellent, as did John Buckley. But just a really good team that Johnson and Dunn are fashioning. Maybe it's more about their CV than the players'. Wonder if any League One or Two teams might make an offer to Johnson if this keeps up...

Hard lines to Fulham's number 10 Isaac Pearce. Looked about 12 years old from where we were sat but was very nippy. Made a reckless and needless challenge on Fisher midway through the first half, and came off much the worse - metaphorically and literally. Must have been a broken leg and possibly fainted. Spent a good 10 minutes flat out on the deck before being stretchered off.

    Hope the kids ok.

I think it's time to get some of our young prospects on the bench at least for the next game. It might just be the spark and competition needed to get our first teamers to pull their fingers out.

  6. After the intial WTF moment and considering our situation it could have been worse.

It's good to read fan views from Coventry and Middlesborough, he's clearly well liked. He's had some ups and downs, win percentage is okay. Let's hope we have the new manager (head coach) bounce and manage to win a few games.

At least he's not a bell end like chimp head.
