Rovers Linked With Finnish Striker

Recommended Posts

Rovers are currently being linked in the media with Ipswich, Finnish Striker Stefki Kugi, who is out of contract next month. Kugi who scored 22 goals during the season, has been offered a new contract by Ipswich but the striker may be tempted with the opportunity of playing in the premiership.

In 2001 Kugi spent a couple of weeks on trial at Ewood, but was rejected by the then manager Graeme Souness who stated at the time, that the then Stockport striker was not exactly what he was looking for.

Souness was quoted at the time as saying.

"He's a very big, strong, enthusiastic forward but he's not exactly what we are looking for.

"So we've decided not to pursue that one but I wish him well for the future."
