Reports would suggest that Rovers central defender Ryan Nelsen, is making good progress in his recovery from a hamstring operation.

The New Zealand captain who recently picked up the New Zealand International Men’s Player of the Year award for the second year running, is being quoted as saying on a telephone link up.

"It's been frustrating because I broke my leg and had this hamstring problem.

"But I've made peace with it and I'm determined to come back stronger, bigger and faster.

"I'm way ahead of schedule but I have to wait 16 weeks [after the operation] before I can play. I'm doing pretty much everything in training, running, working with the ball. It's just the real sprint stuff, but I'm pretty close."
