Here We Go Again.

Here we go again the start of another European campaign, however, could this afternoons third round Intertoto Cup game against Lithuanian side FK Vetra be one game to soon for Rovers, who have only played two preseason friendlies, compared to Vetra whose season is well under way, having already played eighteen league games, plus first and second round Intertoto games against Legia Warsaw and Llanelli.

Although Vetra automatically qualified after Legia Warsaw were kicked out of the tournament due to crowd rioting in the first leg, it should be remembered that Vetra led Legia Warsaw 2-0 at the time that the game was abandoned and put six goals over two legs, past Llanelli in the first round of the competition.

Vetra however look vulnerable, having conceded six goals over the two legs against Llanelli, to go through on the away goal rule.

Rovers therefore cannot be complacent.

Mark Hughes is quoted as saying before today’s game

"They're no mugs. You have to approach the game right and get the job done."

"If we approach it right, which I fully expect us to do, then we're more than capable of going through. They'll be organised, fully professional and they're in the middle of their season so it won't be easy, but I think we've got the strength and the ability in our side to be able to overcome them.

"We're looking to win the game. We don't particularly want to concede and if we can get an away goal under our belts that will make our task a lot easier.

"The important thing is not to get beaten and to make sure we're in a position to win the second leg, which we fully expect to."
