I kid you not, if the media is to be believed Rovers were / are on the verge of signing Theo Walcott from Arsenal and a Steven Gerrard, play-a-like.

With just five days left of the transfer window, the media and supporters alike are chasing shadows from behind the curtains of their double glazed homes, in a vain attempt to discover the comings and goings of their favourite club.

It’s amazing how many exclusive transfer stories being printed and the number of tales told on internet message-boards of who was seen where and when. Stories of players undergoing secret trials and medicals, as a wave of rumours build up to towards Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Club’s reportedly in financial melt down being linked with multi million pound transfers or clubs with relegation worries throwing the final dice in attempt to stave off the inevitable.

As far as Rovers go there is no pressure, out of the cup and assured of premiership survival, any signing made should be in preparation for the next campaign, therefore if there is no activity in the market, there is no loss, apart from possible gate revenue from an added face refreshing a team that has been stale of late.

So who is being linked with the Rovers:-

A loan deal involving Theo Walcott was quickly dispelled by Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger.

Going Dutch as Heerenveen's American midfielder Michael Bradley and Moussa Dembele of AZ Alkmaar emerged as targets.

Trialist Amdy Faye, who has spent the week on trial at Rovers has returned to Rangers.

Velice Sumulikoski the so called, Macedonia answer to Steven Gerrard.

The next five days could be interesting, however if there are no signings, don’t worry, as for once there is no panic to buy, we will just have to wait the Summer sales.
