Blackburn Rovers (2 v 2) Millwall Lionesses.

Rovers remained in 3rd place in the Womens Premier League (National) with a draw aginst Millwall. Rovers went ahead on 15 minutes with a penalty of Liverpool-bound former skipper Nicki Twohig. The long-serving centre-half, (who is soon to leave the club for Super League, Liverpool)thumped home the penalty for hand-ball by the Millwall defender. Twohig had along wait for the spot-kick as the Millwall players disputed the red card given by referee Natalie Walker.

Millwall equalised a few minutes later with a close range header. The lead was to change thirty seconds later when leading scorer Danielle Sheen hit-home a dipping 30 yard volley.

Rovers continued to press Milwall in the second-half hitting the bar and going close. Millwall equalised for a second-time with a close range finish from England U23 winger Kate Longhurst.

Overall, following a six week break a decent performance from a young Rovers team, under new captain Denise Campbell.

Another youngster, Nikki Gears made the step-up to the 1st team with a second-half debut.

Rovers are next in action with a home game to Nottingham Forest @ Radcliffe Borough next Sunday.
