MCMC1875 Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Blackpool Air Show on Sunday saw the last flight of the Vulcan Bomber off the Fylde coast. 2015 is the last season for the remaining airworthy Vulcan. Its a beast of British engineering as anyone who has seen and heard it will know. The noise made on its spiral climb I can only liken to a thunderclap and its delta wing shape gives it a mean appearance. Originally conceived in the 50's, only 10 years after the Lancaster bomber and designed to fly at an altitude of 50,000 - 60,000 ft, it shows how quickly British aviation engineering developed in that decade. I believe it had the same engines as Concorde.

Jock Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 The V-Bombers were scary looking planes. I watched the Vulcan from St Anne's sand dunes. The noise from the Vulcan is fantastic.
