[Archived] News Article -> 2011/12 Full-Time: Norwich City 3 Rovers 3

Recommended Posts

For the second time in a week Rovers will be wondering how they didn't win a game that they led by two goals with only minutes to spare.

Both sides threatened in the first half, but it wasn't until injury time that Hoilett broke the deadlock for Rovers. He cut in from the wing and danced around several Norwich defenders before firing an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net.

Norwich were level shortly after the break when the ball fell to Steve Morison in the box and the midfielder's volley left Robinson with no chance. The Rovers' keeper was called into action only moments later and saved well to deny Bradley Johnson.

Norwich looked on top, but Yakubu muscled his way through the Norwich defence before firing past John Ruddy. The Norwich keeper will probably felt that he should have saved it, but a minute later he was helpless when Christopher Samba slid in to head home Morten Gamst Pedersen's free-kick.

That looked to have wrapped the three points up for Rovers, but Norwich were handed a lifeline when Bradley Johnson's shot took a wicked deflection off Jason Lowe and looped over Paul Robinson in the Rovers' goal.

The game then ended in controversy when Norwich were awarded a penalty deep into injury time for a handball by Steven Nzonzi. The decision looked harsh, but Grant Holt made no mistake from the spot to pull Norwich level and see the home side get a share of the spoils.
