Although Blackburn have had a second bid for Ranger's captain Barry Ferguson rejected, Rovers chief executive John Williams is still hoping to a deal can be reached to sign the midfielder before the transfer window closes this weekend

Meanwhile Liverpool have confirmed that Markus Babbel has joined Blackburn Rovers on loan for the rest of the season. Babbel will however have to wait to make his debut, as he still has to serve 2 more games of a suspension picked up for a red card picked up for Liverpool reserves last season.
