Blackburn manager Graeme Souness is reported to giving Romanian international striker Adrian Ilie a trial with the club.

Nicknamed 'The Cobra', Ilie made his Romanian debut back in 1993. and is currently out of contract. As well as being prolific in front of goal, skilful and renowned for his spectacular efforts, Ilie can also play as an attacking midfielder.  

Date of birth: April 22, 1974

Prev. clubs: CSS Universitatea Craiova,Electroputere Craiova, Steaua Bucarest, Galatasaray, Valencia.

Recently he has been lnked with Scottish clubs Dundee and Rangers.

Agent Willie McKay is reported to have told skysports.com that the 29-year-old was training with Rovers.

"Adrian is in England at the minute and he watched the Blackburn game at Manchester United on Saturday," he said. "He will train with the club so that they can assess his fitness and I am confident a deal will be done.

"He has had chances to go to other clubs after leaving Alaves, but he feels ready to test himself in England. He is a proven player with a great pedigree having played with Valencia and Galatasaray."
