  1. Cant stand that Brand fella so I would not watch it for sure. I think the BBC should do a 'fair' show of each game. Maybe say a 10 min slot for each game/ analysis.

No chance. They'd somehow turn each match into a discussion about one of the 'Big Four' particularly Manchester United. One thing that amuses me is how often little 'ol Rovers somehow gets a passing mention in these discussions.

  2. William Woodruff the Historian recounts his Blackburn childhood and more in his book The Road to Nab End.

I had seen this book around for some time, and, interested on the links with Blackburn, on being made the present of a book voucher decided to treat myself to it.

Woven into the tale of the everyday life of a boy born in 1916 in a cotton mill is a fascinating insight into how a Blackburn family survived in those times. Blackburn Rovers has a mention

Everybody but the dead and dying watched Rovers
He also mentioned the singing of "Abide With Me" at the ground
    The singing gave me gooseflesh
and the excitement in the town when Rovers went to Wembley in 1928 and came back with the FA Cup. For the first time the match was broadcast on radio from Wembley.

No doubt many of you have already read this book, but for those who have not you have missed a treat.

  3. I've just had a moan about this on the official board. Much as I dislike John Terry's arrogance I'd rather have him or Stevie Gerrard at the helm. Choosing Rio is taking the michael in my opinion. Rio already has an over-inflated opinion of himself and personally I'd love nothing more than Bents to make mincemeat of him again when we play ManU in a couple of weeks time.

  4. No joking, you're correct. The BBC even has an "Northern Correspondent" as if it's some minor region on the edge of the civilisation.

Last summer's floods in Tewkesbury and the West Country received huge publicity yet similarly disastrous floods in Hull and Sheffield were ignored after the first day. And you only have to look at the sports pages of the national newspapers to realise the media bias towards London and the south.

Eh ? What's more important ; hold-up on the roads that may or may not delay you or an university interview that may affect the rest of her life ?

I rather held the view that getting caught in an accident in 80-90mph winds might affect any life she might have after in an adverse way. Uni have re-scheduled. Anyway, she's had an offer from a better one, this was second choice ;)

  5. The BBC had some poor lassie on the prom at Fleetwood, near that ship that ran aground a few weeks ago. Poor thing could hardly get the words out let alone stand up!

A tree at the end of neighbour's drive fell down smashing the back window of her car. Luckily it was only a fairly small tree or she would have had no car!

We were off to Liverpool today for Tash to have an interview at University there. Decided against the trip after reports of M6 closures etc. Still extremely windy here.
