If we don’t upgrade significantly on Brown and JRC we will get absolutely ripped apart down that side every single game.

I’m still hopeful we move away from that formation, though the friendlies so far would suggest not. I think we will be exposed in the league without strong addictions, and if Brereton goes I worry about our goal threat. It would be interesting to see how Gallagher would adapt to being a focal point of it though, if it wasn’t for the urgency of results.

he's been a goal threat for all of one season though in reality!!  Have to hope he can keep it going, but its maybe a 50:50 shot that he won't...............

A second division midfielder that has spent most of his career at struggling Reading is ‘out of our league’… still, could be Bury, couldn’t we.

think he meant regarding wages..............many, many pages ago the wage he's alleged to earn was speculated on here.  If true [and FFP breaches suggest Reading have form for overpaying] then probably too pricey for the chicken-chokers

Pulis was mentioned a few pages back. There's a real possibility of him replacing Mowbray at some point, due to his agency connection. I'm not enthused by the idea, but he isn't one to throw away opportunities to win and then just shrug it off, so he would be an improvement on Mowbray

there is no b****t with pulis,it won`t be pretty or subtle but he`ll win us games and tell us the truth if we don`t,anyone not putting 100% in or just not good enough will be jettisoned quickly

and just think - Mark Hughes is currently plying his trade at Bradford............

Indeed. For all my moaning last night, I agree they have one big issue - Parker. Spoke to my old man this morning (non Rovers fan) and he said exactly the same, "they can sign who they want but they won't get promoted with him in charge."

Great to see WBA sticking with Ismael too. They backed him over Snodgrass and a mini player rebellion by all accounts.

So appears Snodgrass a free agent now? similar player to Rothwell and while probably mid-thirties, might be worth a punt as a bit of nous and experience in the squad?

    Strictly with hope:

With rumours abound that a Bournemouth player might be coming this way, what possibility that Bournemouth are (as Rovers' position was re: Rothwell) getting replacements in before allowing them to leave?

Lowe? Stanislas? Solanke? All of whom could fit Mowbray's wish for versatile forwards.

what's Bournmouth's welsh midfielder doing these days  - David Brookes ?

Bournemouth wages wont be bigger than Rovers offer unless they guarantee a huge pay rise SHOULD they get promoted. If they fail then they are lumped with another huge loss, a small fan base, small stadium and not very good prospects unless of course they get rid of the manager.

wont they be getting the Sky 'Losers bung'  parachute payments still?? gives them a huge [albeit temporary] advantage over the Championship Clubs .....

It will definitely be Gallagher as Boro are quite a big team physically so Mowbray will think Gallagher will be suited to that, despite the fact he never wins any headers or physical battles

counter-intuitive;  surely if they're a big lumbering defence, their worst nightmare is small, mobile, nippy forwards with the ball played to feet.  Risk of matching a tall forward against big defence is opening the easy option to just hoof the ball towards him......

Pears wont improve by sitting on our bench. If the management genuinly feel that he has something and will develop into a decent keeper then they should be looking for an older steady eddie who will be ok with being number 2.Get Pears a loan move if anyone will have him after that horror show

the reality is that Pears is only at Rovers as his dad is a mate of Mowbrays.  4 year deal handed out to see a 'boro lad right for a few years.  Nowhere near good enough to even make the bench from what's been seen of his abilities so far.

Farming him out on loan just got a whole heap harder after his 'iron-gloves' display on Saturday,

Obviously i'm not saying he's as good as CR7, but I would imagine similar to CR7 opposition managers are saying don't let him shoot from anywhere in and around the box, because he seems to be able to find the net with a wide range of finishes now

opposition managers may also be telling their keepers not to dive where he's aiming............

Most managers plan well ahead.  Mowbray just wings it at the last minute.  He has no intention of building something just building his bank balance till he retires.

To be fair to old Tone, he was confused by Balajai, the Venkys apparently told him he could sign Naymar -    (Naymar defenders, Naymar forwards and Naymar midfielders -  just left the bloke with wingers to go for )

    (Not original - I’ll get my coat……)

Maybe not all bad - if anything, last evening suggests that if  when Ayala breaks down, the other central defensive options are at best, poor.  Maybe its time to go back to basics, make us hard to beat by not conceding goals, get some decent defenders in with whatever cash we have.

We've waited a while, "defenders are coming" we were told.......

Which bench is Kipre sitting on these days?

Rumor West Ham are going for Tammy Abraham which might end interest in Armstrong. (Abraham is twice the player).

and at least twice the price!

    - might all depend on whether Wet Spam make it into Europe, if anything I'd see it more likely that Abraham would go to Villa [ or Spurs if they sell Kane ].

It's all opinion of course, but can't really see Armstrong as a top-half PL forward
