1. Didn't know where else to put this & didn't feel it was worth starting a new topic:

    Football365's Premiership Predictions 2005/06

Which three teams will actually go down?

Pete Gill: Fulham, Sunderland and West Ham.

Sarah Winterburn: West Brom, Wigan and Sunderland.

Philip Cornwall: Sunderland, West Ham and (I hope) Blackburn.

John Nicholson: Fulham, Wigan and Portsmouth.

Trevor Kramer: Wigan, West Brom and Sunderland.

Which Blackburn player will be sent off first?

    PG: Andy Todd.

SW: Lucas Neill. For trading blows with Savage in the opening game.

    PC: Robbie Savage.

JN: Craig Bellamy. For pulling really ugly faces (which will be a new FA law brought in specifically for Bellers).

TK: Aaron Mokoena - he'll kick Craig Bellamy.

Don't think we're very popular with 'em... rolleyes.gif

Southern media, what do you expect?

  2. In a very entertaining read, individual fans of clubs give their forecasts. Note the muppet from Brum tipping us for relegation  laugh.gif

I like the Chelsea fan's view:

Hate figure: Sadly, Man United put up the merest shadow of a fight last season. It's hard to hate a team you don't take seriously any more. So it'll be David Dein instead.

It's always fun to see ManYoo not taken seriously! laugh.gif

    Who'd've thought that 3 yr ago? blink.gif

  3. Found this Premier League preview on Playlouder.com (a music site):

    Blackburn

    13th

The thing about football, is you're meant to like your team and hate all others. And I hate Blackburn almost as much as I hate the Villa. What's the point of them, with their ridiculous rugby jerseys that look like Andy Warhol has been f**king about with a Battenburg cake? Nobody likes Gary Flitcroft, nobody likes Robbie Savage, nobody likes Craig Bellamy - Blackburn is a graveyard for players we can't stick. It can only be a matter of time before Lee Bowyer ends up there.

Separated at Birth: Robbie Savage and Donnie Tourette from Towers of London

    Rugby jerseys?

  4. Right or wrong,I find the concept of allowing Terrorists, whose sole aim is to murder

innocents, the right to even basic 'human rights' very, very difficult to come to terms with.

    337049

How do you define someone as a "terrorist" and not a "freedom fighter"?

Just becasue someone is classed as a "terrorist" by a government doesn't make it so. After allm, Nelson Mandela was classed as a "terrorist" by the South Africans & so he'd be under a control order/in Belmarsh... ph34r.gif

  5. The 'rules of the game are changing' in the wake of the London bomb attacks.  The Home Secretary will have greater freedom to exclude and deport foreigners preaching hate and violence. And ministers were also looking at strengthening powers to deal with home-grown fanatics, Mr Blair announced.

If necessary MPs will be recalled from their lengthy summer break and the UK could renounce parts of the European Convention on Human Rights, the Prime Minister pledged.  Coming to Britain is not a right and even when people have come here staying here carries with it a duty," he said.

"The Government will repeatedly test the new arrangements in the courts, but if problems remained then Britain's interpretation of the convention could be changed, he pledged."

    Tony Blair 05/08/05

    Hmmm  blink.gif

    336974

Tony Bliar hates our freedom... unsure.gif

Hopefully he's just saying this to get favourable headlines in the Sun/Mail/Express & has no real intention of repealing the HRA 1998... However, going on this government's civil liberties record (ID cards, house arrest, indefinite detention in HMP Belmarsh, banning protests within 1 km of Parliament), I fear the worst. sad.gif

On 7th July, he said "We will not allow violence to change our society and values..."

Looks like another lie from our beloved Prime Minister.

There's also this interesting comment I found on a blog

... people will now be able to be deported for "fostering hatred, advocating violence to further a person's beliefs or justifying or validating such violence". All very well and good. But considering the government's line over the last few weeks has been "if you say Iraq is a reason for why London was attacked, you're giving excuses for and justifying the attacks" it's a tad worrying. What, exactly, counts as "justifying" these days?

  6. Here's mine:

    1. Chelsea - too much money, too good a defence & a decent attack

    2. Arsenal - might not miss Viera as much as you'd think

    3. Liverpool - Crouch will be a big plus

    4. Man Utd - Better performances, but not sure about Van der Saar & if Rio wants to play for 'em

    5. Middlesboro - Yakubu, Viduka & Hasselbaink will make for a decent attack

    6. Everton - bit of a come-down from last season, possibly unsettled if Cahill won't sign a new contract

    7. Man City - think they'll revel in the fact they're no longer considered a 1-man team

    8. Rovers - hopefully Bellamy, Kuki & Jansen'll mean we score some goals biggrin.gif

    9. Tottenham - young squad, but not this season, maybe next

    10. Bolton - bit of a come-down, like Everton; Europe'll affect 'em (if they progress)

    11. Aston Villa - miss Vassell

    12. Newcastle - might be higher if Souness goes early on...

    13. Charlton - annual late-season collapse'll happen earlier this yr, with a bigger impact

    14. Fulham - lack of goals & no keeper!

    15. Birmingham - Heskey'll be back to normal

    16. Sunderland - escape on the last game

    17. West Ham - see Sunderland

    18. Portsmouth - miss Yakubu badly, Robert may not make for a good morale

    19. Wigan - money, but nobody wants to sign for 'em...

    20. West Brom - miss Richardson & still have Kanu

  7. i thought they did ok apart from the 2 defensive errors. Emre looked good and they were unlucky.

    Not sounesses fault anyway

    336534

Once again, Lady Luck stays away from Souness... What's he done to deserve this? biggrin.gif

  8. The England football team

Team of overpaid arrogant idiots who really believe they own the world cup before its even played.

    England fans

For general xenophobia, hooliganism and believing/spreading the rubbish said about their team.

    Tabloid papers

For encouraging both of the above.

    336035

The tabloids for then condeming the same England fans for the actions they've been encouraging

  9. Luxury brothel to be erected for next year's World Cup

One of Germany's biggest luxury brothels is being built in the capital to cater for visitors to next year's World Cup.

The 60-room bordello -- oddly named Artemis after the goddess of chastity -- is within walking distance of the Berlin Olympia stadium.

Prostitution, which was legalized in Germany three years ago, is expected to be a huge money spinner during the competition, with brothels paying around 20 euros (US$24.2) for each prostitute each day to the authorities.

Andrea Petsch of the prostitute support network Hydra said: "The World Cup is a mega-event and lots of money will be made in many areas, one of which is prostitution."

Experts predict that around 40,000 foreign prostitutes will travel to Germany for the football tournament. To save the public from spotting women "offering their services," wooden huts are to be erected close to stadiums in cities including Dortmund and Cologne.
