Well for starters, Forest are now paying wages and employer's NI at 13/14% that they wouldn't have been doing should he have joined Rovers on loan.  Seemingly, Rovers were meeting O'Brien's wages in full so that's at least £500k over the loan period.

If Rovers get promoted, Forest would have pocketed a £10million fee and would have freed themselves of the remaining obligations on O'Brien's contract - that's likely to be no less than £5million.

Then you have what O'Brien might want for Rovers stalling his career and maybe putting it into regression.

Should Rovers narrowly miss promotion when O'Brien might have given them an edge then that's perhaps a £500million opportunity cost including parachute payments in the event of relegation.

What a sorry and potentially huge financial mess.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

Load of deals don’t get over the line due to errors or lateness due to things being last minute. If forest had told us the day before issue would have been different. We are incompetent but no one is going to claim huge wages because a transfer breaks down. Just doesn’t happen. We will no doubt be stung for some legal fees for the EFL though

I can't disagree with any of this

I think this is exactly what happened, the evil overlords definitely scuppered the deal last minute after putting the player though Medical, media, contract negotiations. No way they would have just said ‘no we can’t afford him’ earlier in the day. They were adamant they would waste the player, his agent, Nottingham forest and as many people as possible’s time just to make it look like it could have happened…

Smells of strategically trying to influence a change of opinion within the supporter base.

They know his article will come on here.

They also know many of us use twitter and will tweet this out to followers, which will get retweeted, then suddenly its the EFL's pettyness at fault.

Fair play, with the video today and these leaks, its certainly having an affect.

However i aint buying it, and maintain we need to remove all responsible including broughton. At £160k a year, an important window, a circa 200 million jackpot if we go up. He should of personally overseen the operation. Its 2 days a year he needs to be there ensuring its slick. No he was at the match, leaving others to do it.

His statement of "i was there at the medical, is devious, to plant a seed he was in the thick of it. Truth is he may have been at the medical but chose to go and watch the match.

So he left Manchester at 9ish to

    watch the match? In Birmingham

Having read the decision in this arbitration case from 2020, I think it may come down to which document wasn't filed before the deadline and how soon after the deadline it was filed. The guidance (page 10 of the arbitration decision) says that a club will be deemed to have met the deadline if the EFL office receives the appropriate registration or loan form before the deadline. Other related documentation (e.g. transfer agreements, contracts) can be submitted late provided the EFL office receives them "immediately following" the deadline. The guidelines also say that the transfer agreement/contract must have been agreed before the deadline though.

Surely the registration is the one they would have filed first and on time…: surely

    Lenihan: 5m

    Nyambe: 2.5m

    Rothwell: 5-8m

    Brereton: 15-20m

Total:  27.5-35.5m in assets walking for nothing.

Compound that with flogging  Arma and Raya it's absolutely horrific.

    Combined cost 6.4 million

    (6 of which was brereton)

    Arma profit 11ish

Raya profit 3mill plus add ons (think we got another 500k ish for his Spanish cap)

all of the above on 8k a week or less

  6. If the window does end up being a disaster I want this broughton chap gone (and Venkys also obv ). I was genuinely excited by how he spoke but this no interview (or even a reassuring statement or comment on website) is p@ssing me off. I don't care that other DOF at other clubs don't comment, most are established and get the job done, he's new and you couldn't shut him up the first week or two.

  7. With it confirmed that Brittain and  Phillips are likely to be fit for Wednesday (and it prob 15 degrees cooler) I don't think we need someone in before then but do think by the end of the week we will. We must do all we can to keep BBD or after the last two week's goals and performance accept 25m minimum and tell suitors they have till next Monday to bid or no deal.
