  1. Forward - Marinelli from Boro (Although he wouldn't necessarily bang in many goals, he would provide creativity).

    Good call.

Didn't think he was a forward though? More of a creative midfielder. Left footed?

he has not heart, in training he shows no desire and maybe thats why he does not play from quotes i have heard over the years, although he was meant to be the next Batistuta

Marinelli is a second forward/ attacking midfielder and was definitely not considered as a goalscorer like Batistuta. He was actually compared to Maradona - but which Argeninian player isn't?

The guy has awesome ability and just needs someone to give him a settled run in a side to perform.

  2. The suggestion is that we won't have any available cash in Jan. Kluivert- no chance, he has a small release fee but his wages would be astronomical.

Souness (if he is still around by then) will have to dabble in the loan signings market. ANd that inevitably means we either bring in promising youngsters from a bigger club OR we get in fringe players from another club.

My suggestions, in terms of loan signings, would be Nikos Dabizas from Newcastle to sure up the back. Forward - Marinelli from Boro (Although he wouldn't necessarily bang in many goals, he would provide creativity).

ANd for left wing - Glenn Little. OK maybe not but can't think of a decent left footer available.

  3. we don't need Berkovic or  Dunn, we have Gary Flitcroft, he averages at least 2 goals and 2 asists a season

Matt Jansen, Grabbi and Tommo are all capable of playing 'in the hole'.

But Souness has to play Tugay, Flitcroft and Ferguson to achieve his personal crusade to take over from Houllier as the Premiership's most negative boss.

  4. Jim obviously isn't stating a replacement because he agrees with my view that Paul Sturrock should take over.

The man has performed miracles at Plymouth with no money whatsoever. Before you deride Plymouth and division 2, remember not many of you knew much about Dave Moyes and PNE before he joined Everton.

Sturrock is one of several decent managers in the nationwide who are ready for a big job. Paul Hart, Ronnie Moore, Gary Megson, Iain Dowie.

Along with potentially decent bosses currently out of work, like Eddie Gray and Lou Macari.

  5. Yep, 451, outrageously defensive, that'll never work for anyone. Oh, hang about, Fulham just went to Old Trafford and won 3-1.

Just to knock down that comment even further. Fulham play with Boa Morte and Malbranque on the wings. Pacy players who become strikers on the counter attack.

We have Emerton and Tommo who either don't want to play there, or can't.

  6. So we wait till January? When will be embroiled in a relegation fight.

Souness has the players at his disposal. Our current team is good enough for mid-table at least. But not with him in charge.

    Souness out Sturrock in.

  7. Saints 2 Rovers 0

How many more defeats will you supporters of Souness accept?

He's had his day. Today, he played a defensive 4-5-1. A ridiculous tactical move because it means playing for a 0-0. And everyone knows that playing for 0-0 is about as stupid as playing Tommo on the left.

The players were uninspired, lost, Cole isolated and his frustration boiled over.

I'm telling you, Souness needs to go, or we go down.

  8. Any new manger would expect to have funds made available in January. This would potentially leave us with several millions of unwanted talent until at least next summer who might then have to be off-loaded at cut prices - we've seen this before. Rovers probably can't afford to take that decision yet and unless or until we reach real crisis levels.

Ah - but neither Megson or Paul Sturrock have needed millions of pounds to succeed. In fact, their managerial careers have blossomed on they're ability to soldier on without dough.

As for Leeds, Boro, Bolton fans not complaining. Apart from Boro, who have a set of fans with pitiful expectations and tremendously blind loyalty to McClaren (where has that got them?) - the others don't have any cash.

Of course they're not complaining - they haven't spent £10 million + on new signings and they EXPECT to be fighting relegation.

  9. talking of intelligence, Sturrock ?!  Megson ?! :sarc:

What is wrong with those two. They've worked miracles with no money and have cut their teeth in the lower leagues.

Just like when Davy Moyes was at Preston, both are ready for a bigger job.

Can I educate you. You don't have to be a former football superstar to become a good manager.

  10. I'm glad that some people could disagree with my views intelligently.

The majority of people on this board appear to support Souness still. How long will this faith continue? - if we have to blame 'Lady Luck' (to use one of SOuness' favourite phrases) after every match, where are we going?

Souness has continually wasted transfer funds. His tactics are bizarre. His excuses pathetic and his treatment of players appalling.

He throws Grabbi in to the deep end against Genc - and the next game ruthlessly discards him out of the team. The same with Yorke. Would you have any confidence in a manager who flippantly puts you in and out of the team?

I'm all for fan loyalty - but when loyalty clouds judgement and impartial thinking - you have to worry. Didn't we persevere with Hodgson for too long because of misplaced loyalty.

Weren't fans saying, "We'll turn it around - he got us into Europe, don't worry, he'll turn it around in the next game." And the next game and the next. Until it was too late when we did get rid of him.

I say we replace him now with Paul Sturrock or Gary Megson.

  11. People who have read my previous comments (all of whom have been critical of Souness) will know that this is not a knee-jerk reaction following the Charlton defeat.

I do admire one of Souness' strengths - fight. But did that fight reflect itself in the team against Charlton? Or Fulham, Liverpool, Man City etc.? Souness' fight is waning and his ability to instill confidence in his players is following suit.

Tactically, he is primative. Anyone can tell you that Tommo can't play left midfield. We have zero width when that happens. Any half-wit could have told you that Charlton were without Bartlett and Lisbie - their in form strikers. Surely the objective therefore, is to attack at home, not start with ONE striker and 3 defensive midfielders.

Nevertheless, tactics doesn't always win games. Ask Kevin Keegan. But what has Keegan got that Souness hasn't? The ability to give confidence and support his players. OK, Grabbi misses sitters against Genclerbiligi - what do you do? Put him on the bench to confirm your support for him OR chuck him out of the team altogether and let him rot - all £7million of him.

Souness claimed before the match that confidence was not a problem - which is why Tiny looked terrified on the ball. Ferguson avoided the ball, Flitty likewise, Tommo looked uncertain and Emerton non-existant.

WHy is Souness lying to the fans? Because he has to hide his blatent inability to help the players in their moment of crisis. No doubt Souness will blame the defeat on missed chances - why are we missing chances. Because the players are low on confidence and their manager isn't helping.

Last time we were this low under Souness, he went and bought Cole (during our first year back) and last season DUff came back to form. Souness can't buy anyone now, we don't have Duff - what is he going to do. The money was blown on failed signings - the biggest one being Barry Ferguson. A good player but not worth £7 million. Nowhere near as good as Scott Parker, Koumas, Michael Brown or Carrick.

We need to get rid to give a new man a chance to avert this crisis before it becomes disastrous. A new man will not bring with him SOuness' idiotic beliefs. Alan Mahon is not a rabid player who'll infect our players if he plays. Flitcroft isn't infallible because he's the skipper - need I go on. We need a shake up and heads must roll - Souness'.
