  1. Hello,

I'm 40 and my mates call me Jammy, family and work call me Paul.

I currently live in Sabden and work in Manchester doing IT (which I hate). I also like walking and real ale.

I was born in Bradford but moved to Rishton at an early age after my Dad got a job in Blackburn. His team were always Bradford City but on starting work in Blackburn he stayed in a hotel that was frequented by Rovers players. From then he always had a connection to Blackburn Rovers and when he managed a firm in Blackburn sponsored Rovers. Taking me to my first game in 1985 and others including the Full Members Cup Final.

On starting work and earning proper money in 1990 I got my first season ticket and have had one ever since, missing just 8 games at home. I have been to over 150 away games (including Europe) as well as watching home reserve and youth fixtures.

After several years following Rovers home and away with mates, I settled down and married. I now attend Ewood (Blackburn end) with my daughter, father and brother who are all season ticket holders.

I'm mainly a reader of this forum, as time is at a premium and I tend to get too involved.

  2. Mr Roversmum and I were on the official trip and thoroughly enjoyed it. We didn't have any deadlines to meet though, so the delays didn't bother us.

I thoroughly enjoyed the trip, and had accounted for some delay, 2 maybe 3 hours, but 6+, just caused me a lot of problems, I raised the issue and have not had a satisfactory response "because I was one of two complainants" There was a lot of people complaining on the day, I listened to what had to be said and complained in writing afterwards.

  3. All the main Channel ports were closed due to the high winds if I remember correctly.

I don't think you have a leg to stand on, which is probably why only you and one other person have bothered to complain.

What do you expect Rovers / the coach drivers / the ferry company to do when it's too dangerous to sail a boat out of the harbour?

There is more to it that what I have put, I just felt the trip was badly run, we were misled and constantly lied to. An apology would have sufficed. But since the complaint more lies. Whether other people wish to accept this then fair enough. I have all the facts, and all sailings sailed that night.

  4. Good Evening,

I traveled with the official away travel to this fixture, on the return we were messed around and had a long delays.

I complained to the club and have since been rebuffed with the same false excuses.

As apparently I was one of only two people that complained about this, my argument is irrelevant.

If any rovers fans traveled and also felt aggrieved please PM me direct and I can use this.

If any others traveled by another coach trip, can you please send me details of your trip out of interest?

    Thanks

    Paul.

  5. All season there has been discussion about referee's , i don't think we have had bad referee's most just seem to be crucial decisions at times that affect the outcome of the game

Portsmouth Todd sending off penalty that never was

    Chelsea Terry Penalty

    Sheff Utd Penalties

Bolton Goal that wasn't, Penalty that wasn't

West Ham Offside, then corner from an handball by them

Villa Handball & penalty for them but not for us later

Spurs Tugay sending off and penalty

until the last two home games, when I think Bennett was very one sided and today Gallagher was very poor against the rovers

  6. My thoughts are, crucial decisions went against us, and not for the first time this season, some say they balance out, but if they don’t, then welcome the championship!!!!!

NIELL OUT (I would not call until today)! As soon as possible, felt he was one of Newcastle’s best players always seemed to find a Black and White shirt and didn’t once get forward like we are used to!

PEDERSON OUT yeah scored a good goal, but missing good chances and consistently poor, no commitment.

TODD IN the team suddenly had a captain that fought for everything, made a big difference.

DERBYSHIRE IN played out of position but fought for everything.

The double substation made a big difference, Newcastle were poor and even with 10 we should have got something.

I for a couple of season have wondered why I have been a season ticket holder for 15+ years, the decisions that have gone against Rovers this season are making me wonder why I bother. The only thing I can guarantee is that if Rovers were to be relegated, I will be a season ticket holder for another season. But otherwise the FA have lost another supporter!

Once Gary Mabbutt has looked at the two videos.

(panel is actually Paul Elliot, Gordon Milne, Robbie Earle, Graham Taylor, Gary Mabbutt, Alan Jones, David Rose and Warren Barton)

    Appeals REJECTED!

    TheFA

  8. I know its all down to opinion, but thought Rovers handled themselves well tonight, changes at the back, don't think Henchoz did much wrong, McEveley poor first half better second. Neill seemed to lose the plot late on wandering everywhere. Was disappointed with the first goal question marks over hand ball, and the confrontation between Bentley and Cole beforehand, (why did Bentley get booked?), it appears Cole puts his hands on Bentleys face, the other way round with a bit of rolling around would have guaranteed a red card!

    Freidel 7 Busier Keeper

Neill 6 Did OK early on

McEveley 6 Improved as the game went on

    Henchoz 6 Steady

    Zurab 6 Ok

Emerton 6 Think he has played better at right back

    Gamst 4 Poor

Bentley 7 Never stopped trying, took a beating

Mokoena 6 A couple of bad passes did ok

    McCarthy 5

    Nonda 5

Peter 6 Started ok a couple of wasted crosses.

Roberts 7 Tried Everything, battled hard!

    Jeffers 6 No time

And for all those that couldn’t be bothered going, I thought it was a reasonable game result could have been better/different, (big club biased refereeing), and Rovers played some good football at times, I also took 3 extra supporters with me.

All in all gutted we lost and wish we’d won, didn’t think there was too much between the sides!

  9. I'm going to be in Manchester this afternoon so (this may seem like a daft question) but does anybody know a bar or pub on or near Oxford Road that will almost definately show the game (preferably on a nice big screen)?

p.s. I'm feeling positive and think we'll win 2-1. McCarthy and Nonda with the goals.

Nothing definate, I work on Deansgate, gonna try the Hogshead or Sawyers (I believe they both showed Bolton's games last season!)

  10. Did anyone go (out of the 279) and could they give a personal report please?

Yes, I was there, missed the first 5 minutes, at the end thought it was 1-0 to Middlesbrough. :o

Pretty even game with very few chances, front two of Garner and Derbyshire looked lightweight and had very little service, the defence looked solid (except for the goal), Todd/Matteo/Taylor did ok, McEveley I thought was our best player some excellent crosses. Peter was poor, Gray did well in midfield.

De Vita was lucky 90 seconds after coming on to only receiving a yellow card for an elbow.

Another thing, do we have both Enkleman and Friedal out currently injured? ...and if so can Fielding back-up to Brown in a senior game, if required?

I thought Enkleman was injured, but heard he was away with the Finnish national side?

  11. Just got back, Bramall Lane is going to be a very hard place to visit for a lot of teams. On the whole didn't play too bad, think we had the skill edge, they had the grit and determination. would like to think 0-0 was pretty fair, but would say they had more chances, a bit quality up front and they probably would have won, so a point gained!

The majority of the team today did enough, excep MGP (very poor) and possibly McCarthy (deserved to be subbed)

    Man Of the Match:-

    Friedel no doubt

2nd choice Jeffers always wanted the ball and full of running, silly dive in the second half.

    3rd choice Emerton as above

  12. I am a non smoker (and don't object to people smoking), I will go into a pub where people smoke and it doesn't bother me, BUT, on Wednesday night I went down on to the concourse at half time to buy some food (first opportunity following the dash from work) and was overwhelmed with the smoke and found it impossible to remain in the area, I don’t think it was as bad when people where allowed to smoke in there seats. Following that I can’t wait until the make the whole ground non smoking.

  13. On Saturday (like most) I worked, which makes it very restrictive to go to away games, I am a season ticket holder and have missed very few home games in the last 15+ seasons. I managed to travel to all away games for nearly 3 full seasons and do still visit a couple of away games every season now. Mainly down to work but costs do come into it.

On Saturday Afternoon (after reading this thread), I headed to Ewood to have a few beers and on the off chance Rovers been on to watch the game. This has worked in the past.

At 15.05 my usual first stop had its door shut, so I moved on and then visited 2 more establishments having a beer in both but no football. In both pubs people where complaining that the landlords had bowed to "Rovers" pressure and refused to show the game. Both pubs where quiet. In these pubs a lot of anger was directed towards Rovers. I then visited a third which was showing football (Arsenal v Aston Villa), no quite what was wanted but it passed the afternoon.

    My points are:-

I would quite gladly pay (pub or Rovers) to watch an away game I cannot make.

Rovers seemed to get a lot of stick regarding this.

I accept that a lot of people complaining they couldn't watch the game in the pub may not even go on Ewood when it’s a home game.

I also accept that financial agreements are in place, but with technology today, live matches been more accessible it seems a shame that because I can't make an away game, I can't see it.

Maybe some "gentleman's agreement" could be come up with that Rovers where less strict about away games if the landlords refused to show the home games.
