  1. It was a Hull fan, and angry fans of either team responded with the odd comment (not disrespectfully, they were genuinely incensed).

Think there was a slight ruckus in the upper tier after, seemed to be words said. Hope he got lamped.

Really? Im sure Hull fans would have been disgusted aswell - not least cos it would have given them a bad name. Hope the bloke in question got kicked out the ground. Its about respect FFS.

  2. Always going to get some morons, I've been to a few games that have had minutes of silence before a game and I've seen a few on the TV/heard on the radio and you very rarely get 100% silence. I was listening to Radio Lancs tonight and you could clearly hear abusive language from the guy with sh!t for brains, it was only brief and it was silent after it.

Didnt hear what he said thankfully but u could hear people around him telling him to be quiet. I saw a wreath at the statue before we went in but were we were sat in the walkersteel couldnt see where his seat was or if flowers had been placed there or anything.

  3. Yeah it was a shame someone had to ruin it especially with what looked like his family next to the pitch

The chant was a nice touch but I didn't join in, I didn't know the lad nor the circumstances around his death I wouldn't feel right if I joined in.

It was his family, i looked up and saw his little boy first. Heartbreaking.

  4. R.I.P To the young lad who died.

Whatever happened on the pitch pales into insignificance after these events.

Thoughts go out to his family and friends, and lets hope rovers do something on wednesday night for him xxx

  5. Given the depth of affection that so many hold JW in is it not time that the town council actually recognised the man who must rank as one of Blackburns favourite sons? In true comic fashion they missed a good chance with the naming of the new Iron Bridge so it might be appropriate upon completion to re-name Barbara Castle Way as Jack Walker Way.

I know - but i didnt think they could have 2 in the same town.

  6. Down at ewood today and went over to the statue to take a look at the lovely flowers that had been left. Thought a Rovers fan had perhaps placed them but to my shock, and surprise i suppose the flowers sat there where from Fred Walker. The card read To my brother on what is your 7th anniversary love Fred and family. Brings home really that he may have been part of this great club, but he was also someones brother, father and uncle. Found it strange, but nice that the flowers from a family member where there.

  7. I cant believe its been 7 years. I remember it like it was yesterday.

I remember that my Grandma had died a couple of years before round the same date and she too dies of cancer and i just remember thinking that God only takes the best, and she will have elcomed Jack up there with open arms for what he did for her town.

I still get emotional now just thinking about it. This town, the club had never seen grief like it, and in all honesty i doubt we ever will again.

I still remember the Norwich game, the reading of the poem on the big screen, the tears, the silence. It was quite a surreal game. It was like the fans didnt want to sing during the game, but then we scored and cheered and it went quiet again.............then people stayed at the end of the game, chanting theres only 1 jack walker. Eventually Souness came out and walked to the blackburn end and pointed to jack walkers box. His family came back out and clapped us.

Its a shame that the players there today dont know Jack Walker or what he did for us. Was Freidal here when Jack was? They see around the ground, but dont really know. Thats why people like Bellamy annoy me, you came, you left. Jack would have done everything to keep him here.

Win it today boys for Jack. Ill be there singing his name loud and proud.

    Theres only 1 Jack Walker.

  8. Is he not 22? Why was he in the Under 21 squad again then? I dont understand it.

And honestly as selfish as it sounds, id rather see Bentley perform week in week out for Rovers, then wonder around the pitch mid season tired and unable to give his all.

I just hope tho, that Steve Mclaren doesnt hold iot against him and doesnt pick him again. He doesnt seem to ahve any backbone Mclaren and will probably listen to the press and whats being told, rather than follow his inctincts.

  9. Really pleased Bentley is in the squad. Proves to a lot of the players you dont have to play for "BIG CLUB", to get in squad. Birmingham players take note.

I wonder how many column inches lil old Blasckburns player is going to get tomorrow, they already by passed it on SSN.

Bloody typical of Beckham to steal his thunder.

  10. If he wants to play in the champions league and no longer wants to play for Rovers, let him go. We dont want players here whos hearts really arent here anymore and they have one eye on the top four big clubs. So be it. Its happened before, it'll happen again. No one player is bigger than Rovers.

Speaking of Big clubs, does anyone think Birmingham will come in for him now?

  11. It was in The Sun, so therefore must be true

He probably said, if anything, do you miss european football? Benni: Yes.

The Sun then writed, im unhappy, want to leave and go and play for Chelsea in the champions league.

That said i dont believe anything that footballers say anymore. Lets just wait to see what happens in the transfer window.

  12. Just back from the game and Im absolutley gutted.

For one of the first times this season we get nearly a full house and cant win.

Please do not let us turn into England, and practise panatltiesa in training.

Thought we played well in the first half, should have been at least 1-0 up, the ball was over the line, it looked it from the upper tear of the jack walker stand.

The Bolton players, biggest bunch of cheating, moaning, diving barstewards to grace the game.

Once they scored unfortunatley couldnt see anyway back.

Thought Mccarthy had a terrible game.

  13. I would rather have got a season ticket this year, however none of my friends are really interested in the rovers, and im not going to sit on my own every game. Chelseas game was a bank holiday, we already had plans before the season starte for this weekend, and Wednesdays game was too expansive for me to go to. Its a choice now of picking and choosing games, which ones you can afford to and which ones you cant. I would much rather watch and pay to see us play Chelsea than pay the same price to see us play Everton.

The problem isnt isolated tho, its happeening at grounds all over the country where fans are satying away. But what I find is the biggest problem John Williams insulting the fans saying pubs are the reasons fans stay away when if he looked closer to home he would see the issue is a lot bigger than that.

  14. Just to add, Shearer pointed out in the press this morning that we didn't know how close he came to signing for Manchester United after us, even to the point where he had agreed things with Sir Alex.

To me that speaks volumes about the man.

He always maintained the reason he left Rovers was because of his hometown club. Guess he had alway s planned to leave.
