1. I canr believe some of the posts on here. Yes we should have beaten Pompy. We have probably, more than likely lost out on that Champions league place, but I think if we finish in fifth or sixth, we have still had a brilliant season. We will still be playing European football, we have played some excellent football this season and Hughes has finally given the crowd something to shout about again and be proud of again.

Who would have thought this time last year people would be posting at how disappointed we are after one game?

  2. Alan Shearer is a legend! Up there with some of the greats of the game. Im thankful that he spent imo, the best of his career. Im grateful that he played for our club. He deserves this testamonial, no one will ever agree who it should be against, but it will be an emotional end to a great career and a great player. everybody talks about how sad it is that he hasn't won anything for Newcastle! He has won more in his career than a lot of other players, namely our current team. I cant get over him a few years ago saying he would happily give back his premiership medal to win the fa cup at Newcastle. Manybe he should learn to be more grateful. He has done more in his life than most blokes of 35. How many people on here dreamed of pulling on a blue and white shirt and playing in front of the blackburn end!!!How many dreamt of scoring week in, week out? How many have achieved that dream. Shearer dreamt of playing in black and white stripes, he has fulfilled his boyhood dream. More that a lot of people. He should be proud of what he has got.

So do I feel sorry for Alan Shearer? Quite simply. No!

  3. To all the cynical, shallow people on this board who think the only reasons im defending Matt so much because of his looks says a lot about the people that you are.

Matt Jansen is quite simple one of us. A Rovers fan, whos heart was at this club when he was here, there are v few players you could say that about, in the past I can only think of probably Hendy and Garner who had the same impact, who cared about Rovers. The fact that Jansen was away from football yet made his own journey to sit in the stands at Cardiff last season, and mingle with the fans before the game when he could have just stayed at home says a lot about the person he was. Thats the real loss to this club. A true Rover. Becasue in the team we have now, when the shirt comes off at the end of the game the heart goes because they relly don't care about this club in a way that Jansen did. Even Flitcroft who was in his tenth year didn't say or write a goodbye.

  4. Iwasn't happy when Souness arrived, think what you want but in our household only my brother supported his appointment. Wasn't happy when he was here, yes he won us promotion and the carling cup, but after that there was no ambition except to stay up season in season out, he even said so his self. It's nice to have a manager whos sole objective of the season is to get into europe. So i wasn't happy when he was appointed and was happy when he left. Blackburn Rovers started to look forward that day.

  5. Isn't there suposed to be a meeting between Matt and the Club today.  When will we know the outcome of that?

Well knowing the Rovers PR machine, we won't until Jansen does go in which case they will probably then say something about how they were planning on selling him after they had told everyone and will investigate the major cock up.

  6. Went to the game, I think I ended up sat in Chavs wonderland, but oh well. I must have been mistaken for thinking that the game started at 7.35, not 7.36 or 7.40 or whatever time people decided they want to stroll in, walk in front of your seat then stand and have a conversation ( you know who you are). Come in on time take your seat and watch the football, thats what your here to do not keep getting up and down in the middle of the match.

Sorry rant over. Was very nervous in the second half, had visions of Pompey getting a last minute draw.

Also fair play to the pompey fans after travelling all that way on a Monday night they didn't shut up all the way through the game even being 2-1 down. Put our fans to shame and thats why we need the drummer.

  7. If the point is that Jansen wasn't sacked after riding a moped in Rome, because the club is presumably soft; how does Tugay being allowed to ride a bike without a helmet negate that point in any way?

    370829

I wasn't saying the club was soft for not sacking him, the point was that he went against his contract. My point was that obviously if the club can allow thwm to ride bikes on a road with no crash hemlet, then surley it's the same for mopeds. So maybe Jansen didn't go against his contract, maybe he was allowed. That what was my point was.

  8. The papers this morning have quoted him as saying he is cursed. No rubbish. Two different things. And unfortunatley being the cheque book mamanger that he is, has run out of money for transfers. Oh well...............

  9. As for him breaking the terms of his contract by getting on a moped, as i have said on here once before, wasn't it a couple of pre seasons ago that Tugay was knocked of a bike which resulted in thankfully just bruising. And Souness was quoted as saying that it would be the last time that he allowed any of his players to ride a bike. Maybe thats why they didn't sack him, at least Matty was sensible enough to wear a helmet whilst on the bike, if not for that it could have been alot worse.

And while Flitcroft is up for selection, the same can be said for Jansen who whilst he isn't playing isn't actually costing us anything.

  10. Im just getting over the shock of all of this.

Matt is a legend, and always will be. A thorough proffesional. When you look at some of the players in the squad it's fair to say they aren't all whiter than white, but Matt is someone that you would want your son to grow up and aspire to both on and off the pitch.

And for the catty comments of people going on about how we have paid his wages for the last few years, maybe so, but aren't we still paying the wages of Flitcroft, Amoruso and players who haven't kicked a ball in anger for a long time. Could it not be they are just hanging round for the money?

Cheers Matt, your legend will always live on.

Maybe they could get him out tomorrow night to do the half time draw so we can say a proper goodbye?!

    Just a thought................ sad.gif

  11. On the back of one paper the headlines says Bing back King Kev. Ha Ha. Also the match report in the newspaper this morning about Newcastle was damning.

It feels good again being a Rovers fan.............

esp when 2 of the biggest clubs in the world are below us in the league.

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  12. I find it difficult to be as hard as that. We all know the history, but whatever, he was a human being. There have been a lot worse people lived on this planet than George Best.

    363316

I watched my best friends mum die when we were both 16, she died of liver disease, didn't drink, yet was put on a waiting list, she was 55 and it turned out the liver she was waiting for was given to an alcoholic, somebody younger then herself, 3 months later she died. So maybe thats why i can't show any ounce of compassion for this man.

  13. I believe everybody deserves a second chance and George Best blew that, he jumped the cue to get somebodys liver when it could have gone to a more worthy person as people are on the waiting list for years, 6 months later George Best started drinking again. Why should I have sympathy when his death is self inflicted? If it was of a serious illness my heart would go out to him, but it wasn't so its time to turn the pages of a newspaper Im afraid. I have sympathy for his family, becaus of what he has put them through but thats as far as it goes.
