We havent had a new manager bounce in results but I think performance wise its showed signs of improvement over the JDT disaster. It certainly isnt Eustace fault we are knocking on relegations door.

Saying that he has to win these next two home games to demonstrate there is some hope left to get us out the mess we find ourselves in. If he fails this test then I think we are nailed on to go down given our extended form (2 wins in 17?).

In terms of next season if we are down I would just get rid and try for someone experienced in who can get the team back up. It will need some selling to a prospective manager though when all we are left with is a tiny squad of under 21s and no money to invest. Complete shambles of a club at the moment.

Basically we were 6/7 points clear when he took over, he's had as kind a run of winnable fixtures one could hope for, and yet we are now 1 point from safety. He needs to up his game and squeeze the max out of this feeble bunch pdq. I hope for all our sakes, and his, that he can do this.

  2. Personally I would love to see JDT and Broughton use the Wharton sale to make a stand and tell that useless lump Waggot to convey the following to Venkys: That if they don't get at least 50% of the proceeds to reinvest into the squad, that they will immediately resign.

This will have several potential benefits; it would force Venkys hand to either honour the job description sold to jdt and Broughton / highlight to the average clueless fans exactly what the club has become / protect their joint reputations before they are further damaged by working under impossible conditions / bring the whole shambles to the fore once and for all.

  3. I'm pretty sure that if the consensus of the management/ coaching staff was that Wahlstedt was the better keeper at this stage he would be picked.

It's obviously a bit concerning that he mustn't have yet demonstrated this in training, u23, and cup games. It was impossible to make a judgement at the Cardiff game as he simply didn't have enough to do. The only thing I would say is that he didn't give the aura of confidence and ownership of the penalty area that I was hoping for. Maybe they just think he isn't quite ready yet, in which case Pears needs to up his game and we need to give him support to build his confidence back up, and hope Wahlstedt is ready to step up sooner rather than later.

Not give Mowbray a new contract? Hire JDT?

What have the Romans every done for us...........

The guy is an absolute disgrace and no one should underestimate how much he is, at best, holding our club back. He was so far out of his depth scratting around for a manager until Broughton arrived on the scene and bought JDT in.

Hopefully he's made a crucial misjudgement here and even the most passive of supporters will not accept this red line being crossed. Name me one other instance where a club has closed its home end for a competitive fixture.

If this is meekly accepted....... 'well its a one off'.........'its only a cup game'...etc etc,  how much lower can we be dragged down? Why not just use the Leyland FC ground, or Leigh sports stadium like the Women or Under 21's for Carabo Cup games? I'm sure some would argue 'well it's only first round at home against league 2 opposition'

This needs to stop here and now.

I can't think of a more appropriate fixture for the crowd to turn on Waggott with the guy responsible for bringing him here in the first place in the opposition dugout.

  5. Out for last few games of the season apparently. Good job Adam Wharton is back on the scene and twice the player. If we play 3 in the middle wonder who the 3rd would be? Possibly Garrett, ot bring Brittain in at RB and move JRC into middle. I'd go with JRC option if we're playing 3 midfielders on Tuesday.

Not buying this theory.  My view is that the lads at the back don't have it in the locker to find those incisive balls to beat a press.  Don't tell me there's nobody on, they choose not to pass forward....shithouse football a la Mogadon

I was watching your mate Buckley very closely last night and lost count of the number of times he could have made a subtle movement to create a pass for the defender, and for whatever reason didn't bother. I'm hoping that after his improved 2nd half showing he'll be more willing and confident to make himself available. Our defenders need more options, unless you're saying Buckley and Travis were making all the right angles but being ignored..........must have missed that.

The moaning and groaning when we're playing the ball around the back, looking for that incisive ball to a CM (where Buckley et al turns on it and runs into acres of space when they beat the press) grinds my gears.

"I don't like this! Get rid!" etc is what you hear around me. I think they'd much rather we just hoof the ball up to Thomas and Gallagher and try to feed on the second balls.

Agree with this 100%, but there is often not a forward pass option available due to lack of movement in midfield. This causes the defenders to keep passing sideways which then leads to the groans etc. The biggest thing that would help us get forward quicker though would be Buckley / Travis  / any of midfield being constantly on the move to create the angles for a quick pass into midfield. There were numerous times this could and should have happened last night. This is also where Smodics movement helped a bit, and where Adam Wharton could contribute massively when he next gets a chance...........he needs to make sure he takes it.

  8. How on earth Morton has retained his place is beyond me. I don't care what agreement is in place with Liverpool, Rovers as a team must come first. His impact on games is pitiful in terms of assists and goals. Though he's great at our current MO of pointless passing. To make it worse our best prospect for years can't even get in the squad.

Not happy at all. Having said that I hope to be proven totally wrong.

He really wasn’t ‘rank awful’ though, was he? A steady eddy, but it had all got stale, so I think we all agree that it was time to move on.

But some of the hyperbole he attracts on here is just strange and not reflected at all in the real world, where generally fans think he did a decent enough job.

I'd say 1 win in 17 or whatever it was is pretty awful tbf. Anyway as you say the main thing is we've thankfully moved on now. I'll just be glad when his mate Waggott follows him out the door.

Do you believe the club backed the manager sufficiently enough in January?

The original point was if the owners had backed a promotion push in January, which would include bringing in at least 2 top class signings for fees, we'd have made the playoffs. The players you mention, like the players last summer, were brought in on a shoestring budget, loans and free transfers, no outlay, money kept in the chicken coup.

If JDT gets the same bargain basement backing this January you can wave goodbye to any promotion push, this squad can't cope for a full season with its current setup and needs more quality to make those playoffs.

With Mowbray as manager it doesn't matter who we bought in we would not have made the play offs. That's actually comforting to know in a way. He's just a rank awful manager and thank god we've moved on.

In danger of going off thread here but I believe it’s easier to sell season tickets to supporters when you’re in the second tier, if you haven’t been in the top one since 1961.

Our club is built for top tier income - the majority of the people we all know who’ve given up, went when the club played Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal at home every season.

Not looking up at the likes of Fulham and Bournemouth.

Wonder how Burnley managed to shift so many having just tumbled out of the Premier league then. The main driver to season ticket sales isn't when you were last in the top tier......its about getting the pricing right. Not difficult.......though it is to Waggott.

Without going into too much detail, I’ve just cross referenced my diary against last seasons matches.

Out of 23 home games, 7 would have been impossible for me to attend due to work.

4 would have meant I left the house at 7:30AM and returned home after an evening KO.

Thats 11 games I would have probably missed, leaving 12 games… assuming I didn’t miss another game due to holidays, existing plans or illness.

At £299 I’d have bought one anyway and sat in the Riverside with my Dad for roughly 12 games a season… £25 a match, on average. As it happens, the price is £429 and I refuse to pay best case scenario £35 a ticket. Not least because I can watch every game at home on my sofa.

So long story short - I’m one of the lucky ones that could (just) about afford to buy myself a season ticket at £299, but there isn’t any value at £429. Despite being a Rovers addict, that spends his time running a fans message board, I’ve been priced out by Waggott. So I’ll buy some match tickets - home and away - if we’re playing well… and if we’re not, I’ll watch on the sofa. My net spend will be less than £25 / match in total… which I would have given them anyway, if they could price tickets correctly. Madness. You know who I feel for the most? The Blackburners that really live for this club, that would make sure they attend every game, would schedule their work rota around games, would tell their other halves don’t plan anything on match day… but the cost of living is so high they can’t find a way to pay the price. It’s a disgrace.

Somebody needs to send this to Waggott........along with his p45

Ainsworth has been interviewd & is last man standing ……he’s been constant throughout the month but for some reason they don’t like him …… even though he’s showing the most interest…

Maybe he needs to play hard to get ……

I see it as a positive that Waggot isn't keen on him. Most likely because he's shown some desire, character and hunger in the interview process. This wouldn't sit well with the absolute incompetent no hopers running the show who just want an easy life at the clubs expense. I suspect Ainsworth would come in and want to shake things up and rock the boat a bit. Get him in Waggot you clown.

We have a manager under contract who is leaving.

People tap up managers, players, directors all the time.

Names are thrown in the mix all the time.

I heard about Farke on the 19th March, and briefly pointed to it on that date on BRFCS.

People were convinced TM was staying.

Then the market for the new manager came out on who is top of the list when it came out? Yep that be Farke the very same manager who I was told had been identified by India as the chosen one.

The search for a manager starts now statement aint exactly going to say it started months ago is it now?

I have not seen a single local journalist have a scoop since Andy Cryer left, and the only one that does seem to get close is Nixon, who does have a wealth of connections.

If you are relying on dumb n dumber at Ewood, you would be waiting a long time, they dont even know if they still have jobs.

Over the years I've seen some pretty good reporting on BRFCS but most dont bother now as they just get grief if it doesnt happen in the timescale some expect.

I wouldnt expect a formal announcement of the new manager for at least 4 weeks. What i do expect is more departures first.

Hope you're right Glen and that it is Waggott next out the door. He is a complete liability and should never have been anywhere near the club.

  15. Apart from Mowbray singlehandedly wrecking our promotion hopes, I am also dismayed at the players.

Why on earth did Brereton try to con the ref with a pathetic attempt to win a free kick. The ref rightly ignored it it and it led directly to their equaliser. You'd have thought they would have learnt from their embarrassing efforts which led to 9 minutes injury time at Coventry. Just play the game and concentrate on the basics.

  16. How many more points are going to dropped, and halves wasted due to the incompetent team set up and player selections from Mowbray? He is a complete liability the players only showed any belief at all once his errors had been partly rectified half time.

What on earth was he thinking of with that first half selection.

Rankin Costello in particular was pitiful
