Two Mercs Eh and Ronnie Clayton made do with an Hillman Minx ! I once got three of my all time great Rovers players - Mike England, Keith Newton, Fred Pickering - autographs as they got off a Corporation bus near the ground before a match.

My dad (God rest his Rovers soul) once gave Ally McLeod a lift up Montague street on his Lambretta - which was so underpowered with two big blokes on board that McLeod got off and walked instead! Footballers today don't take lifts from strangers, or walk anywhere (other than the Trafford Centre)

  2. That kit...(yay!), that team...(wow!) that crowd....(c'mon you BLUES!!), that result.... (get in!).

When shall we see the like again...?

Soon. I hope in my heart, perhaps never again...says my more objective rational self..

It's been a while since I've watched those highlights. What a game. Imagine a team with Mickey Gray and Shefki Kuqi beating the likes of Ronaldo, van Horseface, Ferdinand and the like. Brilliant.

  3. Well, if we think players and perhaps even management come on to these forums (and let's face it, their egos are going to demand attention from wherever they can get it), perhaps we should have a poll about 'how to fix Ben Brereton?'

We all want him to come good, and no-one wants him to continue in the miserable condition he has fallen into, so perhaps there might be something from the ranks of the good and great fans of BRFC that those at the club could cotton on to and consider.

    Just a thought...

My two-pennworth would be a) send him out on loan to league 1, to get his shooting boots on again b) quietly give him some full game time with the u23s, or c) make him a regular start in the first team, on the basis that he will come good, as quality always does. It wouldn't be, carry on as we have done so far - that seems to me will just wreck any potential he has left.

  4. Watched the game on Sky and whilst the football was nothing other than atrocious, the result is all we will remember going forward. Encouraging for me was the return to the 90 minutes of harrying and chasing down that epitomised our success last season, plus the reward of the Nut 'scoring' (I'm not sure he got the last touch or knew too much about it) as a result of putting himself into the danger area at the right time. I could see dividends coming from an Arma / Nut partnership, possibly a secret super-sub weapon to be deployed for 20 minutes when we had previously been tailing off??

Anyway, onwards and upwards. Looking forward to Tuesday now. :)
