6ft Venky’s & Waggott Out banner has arrived & ready for the Wrexham Game

Sitting in W03 in JW Lower, back row, in full view of the TV Cameras if anyone would like to join…will need help holding the banner up at very least!!!

Maybe there’ll be some rich Americans watching on Monday who might fancy following in the footsteps of Ryan + Rob

Well I'm sure the agents did alright out of all of those deals.

Exactly, arrange the deals, arrange the contracts, all these premier league loans, all these players we’ve brought into the academy that have been nowhere near the first team squad, some have been here for years, don’t think transfer fees matter to them tbh

Strongly agree with your thoughts. Waggott said before start of season the aim is just to stay in the league!

Correct, the plan would be harder in the prem as the academy lads wouldn’t get the minutes to progress, in league 1 they wouldn’t get the value, so tread water in the championship forever + stay under the radar. You’d think we would have made the playoffs at least once under Venky’s. Every time we get close we cut back when a bit of investment could get us over the line.

This will take some beating. 2025 v Bury 3 Oct 2017, lost 0-1

I was on the Wimbledon game in 85, was a shocking night, torrential rain  + we were 5-0 down from the 1st leg if my memory is correct, think we won 2-1 🤔

The last 3 Clubs who failed to be re-elected were all coastal North West Clubs, with poor transport links ... Barrow ( 1972 ), Workington ( 1977 ) and Southport ( 1978 ), replaced by Hereford, Wimbledon and Wigan respectively.

Of the current League Clubs, Hartlepool had to apply for re-election 14 times, followed by Rochdale on 10 occasions ... curiously, as I write, these two Clubs are 91st & 92nd in the Football League pyramid !!

In 1978, Southport were thrown out despite not finishing bottom ( That was Rochdale) Wigan replaced them who had Bobby Charlton on the board at the time who pulled in some votes from his mates at the football league. Was a disgrace , Port have never got close to getting back in . Main reason was they built a new main stand costing around £70,000 which nearly bankrupted them .

  7. Well that was disappointing, not made any better by seeing Lyle Taylor at Charnock Richard services.

Not fair to judge on 1 game but not convinced by Walton at all. Got to blame the first goal on him, should’ve been claiming that cross all day long. Can’t remember him coming for a cross all match tbh. Maybe that’s being used to playing behind Dan Burn. Have to say I’d be picking Leutwiller next week on that performance.

Johnson was excellent, just the sort of nasty bugger cm we’ve been crying out for yonks. Thought Downing did well also but Rothwell was probably our form player at the end of last year, shouldn’t be on the bench.

All in all a very bad day + with the fixtures coming up this month hard to see us with many points before September.

  8. Well I went to my first ever u23 game today, enjoyed it immensely. We had planned to go to Haig Ave as it’s quite local to us so decided to go anyway when it was changed.

Agree with a lot of Parsons post above, especially about Chapman. He was sharp, pacey + threatening , but too often ends up losing the ball. Unlucky when he hit the bar though.

The stand out for me however was Tom White. On today’s evidence, we’ve got a player here. Strong in the tackle, always available, comfortable on the ball + has certainly got a pass in him. Would like to see him against better opposition but very impressed today.

Charlie Albison was excellent in goal for Port , without him, could have been 5 or 6.

Thoroughly enjoyable experience though + can’t wait to see how these lads progress.
