It's a fair point to make and it would be of no surprise if the system was at fault or not fit for purpose or lack of basic training but it did seem to work for the majority of transfers.

Somehow no one could work it properly for mid season big money buys though so it seems rather selective.

I am not blaming the system (other clubs seem to have managed just fine), just think its possible that Silvester maybe couldn't get to grips with it, which would maybe explain that when pressured for time (late deadline day deals) he messed up.

Pure speculation on my part though

    Much more qualified ?

You are aware of Silvester's background, experience and the sheer amount of transfers in and out hes overseen right ?

This is a complete guess, but was Silvesters "good prior work" and record before the EFL changed how transfers were registered from the old school way (faxes etc) to the new online system?

I genuinely do not know, but maybe Silvester did not get to grips with the new system?

Edit - According to this article, faxes were still being used in 2015, but had stopped being used by 2023 (although the article does not state exactly when this change happened).  If the change was 2023 that would tally up perfectly with the issues we have had

Let’s wait to hear this years excuse as to why not to invest any money in the playing squad, clean the ground up, generally not invest in Rovers.

They must have a list and put every reason into a hat and pick a couple for each season.

And this season we can not put any money into Blackburn Rovers because…  (insert your answer here)🙄

Probably back to complete radio silence

I doubt Dolan will go even if he doesn't sign a new contract beyond the year extension we will still be entitled to a fee  for him next summer

This is on the proviso we offer him a new contract (on at least equal terms to his existing one)

It wouldn’t surprise me if the club forgot that part of the regulation…

And that if/when he moves to another club at the end of his contract, he moves to an English one.

If he were to move to a Rangers/Celtic/Random European club, Rovers would get nothing regardless of his age, or if we have offered him a new contract on better terms etc

Looking at what you're saying here and reading through some old posts we all agree it looks like we're going to go with the same formation with wing backs so if we do bring in another lwb I hope he can deliver a ball into the box and that at least 1 of the attackers can score headers or get on the end of it

Will stick my neck out on this now, Eustace at Birmingham and Kidderminster has always gone with a 4-2-3-1 when he gets a summer window to do what he wants with the playing squad and make it "his". with the back 5 as a back up for tougher games.  I see no reason why that will change.

I'm not far from Stoke and have plenty of friends/work colleagues who support them.

Most are glad to see the back of Campbell and say he's a complete waste of time and wasted potential.

Had a few good games towards the end of this season as it's been known for a while that he would be leaving and he's in the shop window.

He has the feel of one of those players who will sign for someone this summer on a free, have a stellar season, move next summer for big money, and then never get more than 5 goals in a season again for the rest of his career

Hull haven't overspend in fees and they are almost matching between transfer fees in and outs

don't know on wages what the script is there

    Philogene was about £5M

Omur, Pandur and Connelly each cost between £1M and £2M

That's £10M on permanent signings for last season https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hull-city/transfers/verein/3008/plus/?saison_id=2023&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=

High wages paid for numerous imports from Turkey etc and large loan fees for the likes of Delap, Carvalho, Morton, Zaroury, Giles, who were all highly sought after loans by numerous Championship clubs

They spent loads this season, probably more than any Championship clubs but the relegated 3 of Leeds, Leicester, & Southampton, by some margin.

Yes they sold Lewis-Potter a couple of years ago, but that money was spent the season before on Sinik, Tufan, Sayyadmaneh, and loan fees for Darlow etc  https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hull-city/transfers/verein/3008/plus/?saison_id=2022&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=

Edit - and when I see what Rosenior had at his disposal in terms of money spent written down like that, it does look more like a failure and seems to justify his sacking to some extent

I suspect Peterborough will have negotiationed a decent sell on fee for Sammie. So any sale would have to factor that in.

That is the exact amount that Darragh McAnthony said they negotiated with us

"Still we might get a decent sell-on fee if he gets a move to the Premier League"

Georgie Gent coming back off 25 odd first team spl appearances for a mid table side must have a shout at going straight in at LB - essentially a new signing.

I've said it before, but I think Pickering is too slow for a fullback but otherwise a good player, I'd like him moved more central, either as a left sided CB in a three or a left footed defensive mid, I think he has the attributes.

That frees up a bit of room off the bat, then we'll have to see if we get Travis back. Probably play Sig through the middle.

For new players a striker will be needed for when Szmodics gets sold - I don't dislike Gallagher as much as some on here but he isn't the player I want as the main man leading the line, then an experienced keeper and either a new centre back or an out and out winger, either side.

Tyler Maglore was also a regular for Motherwell in the SPL when we sent him on loan there.

I am not saying that Gent will not be able to step up and be considered for a squad role, but the SPL is not on a par with the Championship.  That said, since Gent has now played in men's football, he must be elbowing his way in front of Batty in the squad hierarchy.

  10. I would  imagine he may have more lucrative offers (Rangers or Celtic would be my guess) and his wages are probably out of reach, but Scott McKenna is out of contract at Forest this summer, left footed CB, Championship promotion on his CV, and obviously not quite Premier League standard (been on loan at Copenhagen this season while his contract runs down), decent age at 27

I don't think there would be many queueing up to activate it

Apparently Liverpool want him as back up to Allison because Kelleher wants to leave.

God knows what they have been watching all season if that is true, maybe we should send them a video of Wahlstedt?

He has to play in 75% of games... or what? His contract becomes void?

It wasn't said. That was the first I'd heard of it.

Probably he gets a financial payout from the club and/or he will have a low release clause become active

£25M? Obviously a better player than Adam Wharton!

Personally think £25M is very high for Whittaker, can see it being more like £10M.  But I do also think that Rovers sold Wharton on the cheap, and had we waited until the summer to make a sale then

1 - Rovers would not be in the position they are in

2 - Rovers would have got at least as much as Bristol City got from Bournemouth for Scott (£25M+)

Should be this team. But won’t be as Eusless only plays senior players, safety first, boring football with no imagination.

We’re probably going to lose anyway so we may as well do it whilst playing young athletic lads with energy.

We’d already be safe now had he took the game to the opposition rather than playing for clean sheets & largely drab points. Holding the recruitment team back, holding the club back in planning for next season, reducing season ticket sales further. Bore off Eusless!

Fair play to Ipswich, can’t help but feel a bit jealous , massive egg on my face as I told a fan at the start of the season that they would probably get relegated if they had Walton in goal.
still, they will get battered next year

Well, in fairness to yourself, he hasn't played a single minute in the Championship, so nobody can say you were definitely wrong 😉
